DogeOS Buka Testnet Publik - Dogecoin Kini Punya DeFi dan 15 Game Tanpa Sentuh Base Layer

DogeOS Launches Public Testnet - Dogecoin Gains DeFi and 15 Games Without Touching Base Layer

The development team behind the MyDoge wallet officially launched the DogeOS public testnet on Wednesday - bringing DeFi applications and decentralized gaming functionality directly to the Dogecoin ecosystem. This layer-2 application rollup operates separately using zkVM, or zero-knowledge virtual machine technology.

The team intentionally opted for a separate layer architecture to build new products without modifying Dogecoin’s core codebase. DogeOS CEO Jordan Jefferson said the testnet launch marks the beginning of Dogecoin’s evolution from a purely passive asset into a functional ecosystem. Dogecoin Foundation’s Timothy Stebbing echoed this direction, emphasizing that Dogecoin’s Layer-1 purity must remain intact while the community builds additional functionality on layers above it.

Despite being anchored to Dogecoin’s backbone, DogeOS features full EVM compatibility. This EVM-compatible design allows Web3 developers to migrate smart contracts and tooling from the Ethereum ecosystem to DogeOS without altering their code. Throughout the testnet phase, users pay all transaction gas fees exclusively in DOGE tokens. To incentivize early network activity, developers launched a faucet distributing 42,069 test DOGE per day to registered wallets.

First Wave of Applications Testing the Network

Several third-party crypto projects have already deployed their products during this open test phase. Lending protocol Superposition Finance, perpetual exchange Derps, and a CDP stablecoin project named USDoge have stepped up to populate DogeOS’s decentralized finance sector. Prediction market aggregator Snag has also joined the testnet to test its smart contract betting system.

In pure entertainment, mini-game publisher PlaysOut secured its footprint with plans to roll out 15 gaming titles, all centered around Doge visual branding. This wave of standalone app launches arrives at a pivotal moment as Dogecoin seeks fresh adoption catalysts. DOGE remains caught in a bearish trend, down roughly 75% from its all-time high (ATH). The meme coin’s price has lingered in the red even as markets welcomed the debut of several open Dogecoin ETF products.

Base Layer Integration Targeted for Mid-2025

The DogeOS development team has not yet released a definitive schedule for its commercial mainnet launch. Instead, engineers are focused on a major milestone: submitting a proposal in July 2025 to fully integrate zero-knowledge proofs directly into Dogecoin’s base layer.

Such a massive architectural integration will require a lengthy roadmap. Developers will need to gather detailed technical reviews from core Dogecoin contributors, address open community discussions, complete multiple rounds of external security audits, and ultimately secure consensus from global miners.

For dedicated DOGE holders, the testnet launch offers a real way to put idle coin balances to work in practical applications. Dogecoin gains a dedicated playground for decentralized apps without requiring risky code changes that could jeopardize its main network.
