Five Major Players Inject $1 Billion in Liquidity - OUSD Stablecoin Launches with Zero Mint Fees

A consortium of five major corporations has committed more than $1 billion in initial liquidity to back the launch of a new stablecoin. Open Standard officially rolled out Open USD (OUSD) to the cryptocurrency market on September 30, 2026. The five founding partners and liquidity providers include Coinbase, Mastercard, Shopify, Stripe, and Visa.

The issuance of OUSD tokens is managed directly by Bridge Building Inc., a subsidiary of Stripe. To maintain operational focus, Bridge co-founder Zach Abrams serves as full-time Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Open Standard. Meanwhile, custody of reserve assets has been entrusted to three established institutions in banking and asset management: BlackRock, Lead Bank, and BNY.

Zero Minting Fees Across Four Networks

OUSD’s initial distribution spans four separate blockchain networks: Base, Ethereum, Solana, and Tempo. The stablecoin’s architecture is engineered to maintain a 1:1 peg with the US dollar. Conversions between fiat currency and crypto incur no minting or burning fees for users across all supported integration rails.

Open Standard selected Chainlink as the official data oracle for the OUSD ecosystem. The oracle integration safeguards price data feeds and smart contracts across several core functions. Chainlink’s responsibilities include collateral management, trading activities, lending markets, margin execution, price feeds for AMM liquidity pools, and yield vaults.

Enterprise Access Rails and DeFi Expansion

Businesses can access the OUSD ecosystem through payment infrastructure provided by Stripe, Mastercard, Visa, and Coinbase. While the integration framework is live, Visa stated that access via its Stablecoin Platform remains in beta and subject to regional limitations. Full access for Coinbase users is scheduled to open on October 1.

The partner network also reaches digital asset infrastructure providers. Securitize joined the coalition as a Network Partner to facilitate OUSD access using tokenization technology. On crypto exchanges, OUSD trading debuted across Coinbase, Kraken, and decentralized exchange Uniswap.

The decentralized finance (DeFi) sector quickly responded to the debut. Aave Labs submitted a governance proposal to onboard the asset into the Aave V3 lending protocol on Ethereum, while also planning its integration into the Aave V4 Core Hub architecture.

Direct participation from global card payment networks and leading exchanges from day one signals an evolving adoption model for stablecoins in the market. Reported via crypto.news.
