Powering the video creation tool is the Gemini Omni 1.1 Flash artificial intelligence model. The processing engine is designed to respond to input materials such as text prompts, still images, audio clips, and initial video snippets, turning them into a complete new video in under 30 seconds.

Beyond generating videos from scratch, Google Vids also includes a dedicated feature called Scene Extension. This advanced editing capability extends the duration of existing video clips while maintaining scene lighting consistency and preserving on-screen character profiles from start to finish.
The Vids editor also provides users with precise timing adjustment options. For those working with older footage, the system includes an image upscaling tool capable of boosting the quality of legacy clips straight to high-definition 1080p.

Every video generated by Google Vids is required to carry a watermark called SynthID, a technology developed by Google DeepMind. The watermark is invisible to the naked eye and is embedded directly into the video’s frame layers from the moment it is produced.
For those needing visual verification, users can leverage a companion tool called SynthID Detector. The scanning tool is specifically designed to verify the authenticity of video material, enabling the public to accurately detect the spread of synthetic content.
