Brazil-based B3, the largest stock exchange in Latin America, officially launched options trading on Bitcoin, Ethereum (ETH), and Solana (SOL) futures contracts starting July 6. The derivative products expand the exchange’s lineup of regulated crypto instruments available to Brazilian traders and asset managers.
Settled via Futures, Not Physical Coins
Call and put options on Bitcoin futures are denominated in Brazilian reais, while Ethereum and Solana futures are denominated in US dollars. B3 emphasized that these products involve no custody, transfer, or administration of spot crypto assets - the options are settled purely into the underlying futures contracts. All three track Nasdaq crypto indices, trade from 9:00 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. local time, and feature automatic exercise at expiration for in-the-money contracts unless the holder chooses to block execution.
Part of B3’s Phased Crypto Expansion
The launch builds on B3’s previous milestones, which already included listing Bitcoin options as well as Ethereum and Solana futures, and the exchange is currently preparing event contracts based on Bitcoin prices. For Brazilian traders and asset managers, such products offer a local, regulated route to hedge crypto exposure and build structured positions without dealing with loosely regulated offshore crypto options exchanges.
