An Indian crypto scammer made the worst miscalculation of his career for the sake of 5.73 BTC. Instead of successfully withdrawing his $475,000 worth of assets held by the Changelly exchange, he instead sent digital evidence of his own crime to Zachxbt, an on-chain investigator with 1.07 million followers in the crypto ecosystem.
This incident began when Zachxbt’s personal account received a direct message from the perpetrator. The seemingly frustrated reporter explained that access to his wallet had been unilaterally closed since March 2025. He felt his funds were frozen without fair reason by Changelly. The crypto exchange itself indeed has standard procedures to hold user assets if the system detects indications of suspicious activity or illegal money movement.
Approaching the Wrong Person for Help
Hoping to gain sympathy for his bad luck, the scammer did not realize he had just approached the wrong person. Zachxbt is widely known for his ability to dissect the structure of cybercrime networks. Receiving the data firsthand, it did not take him long to trace the transaction route of the 5.73 BTC. He combed the public ledger, tracking the coin’s trail backward from its stopping point on Changelly to various intermediary wallets. The on-chain tracking results confirmed one absolute conclusion: the hundreds of thousands of dollars claimed as legitimate assets by the reporter originated entirely from a series of scams.
By complaining about his situation, the scammer handed over the missing pieces of the transaction puzzle that had previously hidden his tracks. He opened a direct path for the investigator to link his personal account identity to the movement of the stolen Bitcoin. The transparency of blockchain technology, which records every transfer of funds, caused the claims of the fake fund-withholding victim to collapse in the face of a stream of indelible past transaction records.
Permanent Trails That Defeat Fake Identities
The ironic story shared by Zachxbt received a sharp response from the community, gathering 3,729 likes and 367 reposts on the X platform.
