Arthur Hayes Batal Pensiun Demi Pimpin Proyek Kripto AI - Janjikan Airdrop Tanpa Alokasi VC

Arthur Hayes Ends Retirement to Lead AI Crypto Project, Promises Airdrop Without VC Allocation

BitMEX founder Arthur Hayes announced the end of his retirement on August 18 to assume the CEO position at Flop Labs. He now leads an entity focused on building specialized blockchain infrastructure for artificial intelligence agents. This move was made without leaving his previous position; Hayes remains the Chief Investment Officer at Maelstrom Fund.

News of Hayes’s return to the executive seat comes amid the countdown to the closure of the BitMEX exchange. The exchange he founded is scheduled to shut down all operations on September 23, 2026.

Proof of Inference Economy

Under Hayes’s direction, Flop Labs is developing a network system that allows AI agents to pay for their computing, data storage, and operating memory needs. Payments within this ecosystem will use a native token called FLOP.

Flop uses a new consensus mechanism they call proof of useful inference. In this economic model, miners have the specific task of resolving various AI inference requests from the network. Meanwhile, a group of validators is responsible for confirming that the computation was delivered correctly.

Promise of Launch Without Venture Capitalists

Hayes announced plans for a large-scale token distribution or airdrop scheduled for the fourth quarter of 2026. This distribution will take place before the launch of the genesis block of the Flop Network, which is targeted to launch in the first quarter of 2027.

Flop Labs claims the FLOP token will be distributed through a 100% fair launch scheme. They stated there will be no presale sessions, nor any token allocation portion set aside for venture capitalists.

What Has Not Yet Been Disclosed to the Public?

Although the airdrop promise has been announced, many key pillars of this project are still not publicly accessible. Flop Labs has not published a technical whitepaper, a complete tokenomics structure, the official smart contract of the network, or the details of the requirements to qualify as an airdrop recipient.

The organization’s level of transparency is also minimal. Flop Labs has not revealed their full developer team lineup. They have not announced the official legal entity hosting the project, or the national jurisdiction where the company operates.

Given that the FLOP token has not yet launched and does not have a market price, crypto market participants must be cautious. Currently, there is no native token on any exchange, so investors need to avoid the emergence of fake smart contracts or tokens claiming to be FLOP. For airdrop hunters, the absence of an official contract means you must be extra careful before connecting your crypto wallet to any links. Reported by Cointelegraph.
