The Axie Infinity (AXS) token recorded a 9.5% price increase and broke back into the list of trending crypto assets over the last 24 hours between August 16 and 17, 2026. The upward movement of this pioneer play-to-earn (P2E) game token - a project that once dominated the market cycle during the 2021 boom before plunging sharply - came alongside the rising intensity of GameFi discussions in various crypto community spaces.
The resurgence in Axie Infinity’s price movement immediately caught the attention of market players. This pattern stands in contrast as it occurred exactly when the overall crypto industry sentiment is still firmly held in a prolonged bear market phase. This anomalous momentum is interpreted as an early indicator of investor interest rotating to seek opportunities in the GameFi sector, at a time when many other top-tier crypto asset classes have yet to deliver meaningful daily returns.
Spreading to Other P2E Games
The bustling discussion around the P2E narrative did not stop with the Axie Infinity ecosystem. The wave of community attention spread widely to various other crypto game titles. Data reports from PlayToEarn.net, which monitors Web3 gaming activity metrics over 24 hours, showed a series of score surges for several other P2E games.
Knockout Games sat at the top with an 800% activity score surge in a single day. Next in line, GasHero scored a 640% increase, followed by MetaRivals which rose 545%. Other game projects like MetaChess and Nakamoto Games also collectively recorded an identical score increase of 533% over the same period.
The buzz of conversations among crypto players also flowed into games built on the BNB Chain network. Artyfact, a metaverse-themed shooter game project, sparked a lot of discussion after introducing their latest 1v1 duel mode. Elsewhere, Rollercoin, which offers a crypto mining simulation game - and is considered an old player since it has been active since 2017 - was once again drawn into the center of crypto forum discussions.
A New Haven for Capital
The return of busy activity and talk in the P2E space shows that market players continue to remember the past glory cycles of GameFi. The rising discussion volume of the Axie Infinity token along with the skyrocketing scores of various satellite game projects prove that this sector is always the first option when capital rotation seeks alternative narratives.
