Didukung Miliarder Mark Cuban, Zapper Tutup Setelah 7 Tahun - Ini Pemicu Runtuhnya

Backed by Billionaire Mark Cuban, Zapper Shuts Down After 7 Years - What Triggered Its Demise

One of the most popular decentralized finance (DeFi) analytics platforms, Zapper, has officially announced that it will shut down all of its services. Its website, mobile application, and API services are scheduled to cease operations on August 3 - concluding a seven-year journey backed by prominent figures including billionaire Mark Cuban.

The announcement was made directly by Zapper CEO Seb Audet via a post on X. “We evaluated a number of different options, pursued several as far as possible, and came to the realization that an orderly shutdown is the best step,” he said.

From 2 Million Users to the Point of Closure

At its peak, Zapper was no small player. Audet noted that the platform once served over 2 million monthly active users and oversaw more than $13 billion in processed transactions. The tool was widely popular among traders for tracking token prices, following DeFi trends, managing liquidity, and spotting airdrop opportunities.

Founded in 2019, Zapper gained traction after winning a Kyber DeFi hackathon and securing $1.5 million in seed funding. Its peak arrived in May 2021 with a $15 million Series A round led by Framework Ventures, with Mark Cuban, Coinbase Ventures, and Sound Ventures also contributing capital.

While declining to detail specific reasons, Audet gave a strong indication: the closure was driven by continually declining demand. “In the end, the market decides,” he stated briefly.

Not the First Victim, and Likely Not the Last

Zapper is merely the latest casualty of crypto market sentiment plunging to recent lows, coupled with venture capital funding becoming increasingly difficult to secure. Previously, Cardano-based analytics platform TapTools closed its services in June, followed by Bitcoin-focused DeFi platform Botanix. A string of other names, including Nifty Gateway, Rodeo, and SBI’s crypto unit, have also wrapped up operations this year.

This wave of closures delivers an uncomfortable message: during a market cooldown, even products with millions of users may not survive if revenue streams and funding dry up at the same time. For users, this also serves as a warning not to place total reliance on a single third-party platform.
