'Godfather' Kripto Adam Iza Divonis 78 Bulan Penjara - Curangi Meta $37 Juta lalu Sewa Polisi

Crypto ‘Godfather’ Adam Iza Sentenced to 78 Months in Prison - Defrauded Meta of $37 Million and Hired Police

The criminal career of a 26-year-old man who dubbed himself “The Godfather” has come to an end in a courtroom. U.S. District Judge Percy Anderson sentenced Adam Iza to 78 months in federal prison for a series of crimes that crossed the boundary between cyberspace and the physical world.

The sentence follows Iza’s conviction for orchestrating a fraud scheme against Meta totaling more than $37 million. He breached Meta Business Manager accounts along with their associated credit lines. Rather than using the multi-million-dollar access himself, he sold it to various advertising companies.

As a result of this sophisticated billing manipulation scheme, Facebook’s systems automatically charged clients for advertising they never actually purchased. Meta ultimately had to refund all affected clients impacted by the young fraudster’s actions.

Money Trail Leads to Crypto Custodians

The advertising fraud was only the beginning of his criminal spree. Iza netted at least $36.4 million from the illicit scheme. To obscure his financial trail, he moved his company’s revenue into several crypto custodial services while continuing to conceal his ownership of an entity named Zort. The case starkly illustrates how crypto custodial facilities remain vulnerable to exploitation by cybercriminals conducting large-scale fraud and tax evasion maneuvers.

Hiding these assets had severe repercussions for public coffers. The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) recorded $13.3 million in tax losses resulting from Iza’s tax evasion. In addition to imposing the prison term, Judge Anderson ordered the defendant to pay $23.4 million in restitution to the authorities.

Deploying Los Angeles Law Enforcement

The reach of “The Godfather” did not stop at computer code and digital asset concealment. Iza brought syndicate-style criminality into the physical world by enlisting armed law enforcement. He was proven to have used several off-duty Los Angeles County Sheriff’s deputies as his operatives, directing them to surveil and intimidate his business rivals. Five former deputies implicated in the conspiracy have each received their respective sentences.

Iza’s outcome was already sealed earlier this year. In January 2025, he pleaded guilty in court to conspiracy against rights, wire fraud, and tax evasion. The 78-month prison sentence from Judge Anderson adds to his growing criminal record. The term will run concurrently with a 15-year prison sentence he received last month in the state of Connecticut, stemming from a botched Bitcoin robbery attempt in August 2024. The “Godfather” title he boasted of for years has now cost him over a decade behind bars, without access to crypto or hired police protection.
