LINK Melonjak 5% Usai Mantle Geser $2,5 Miliar - Whale Ternyata Sudah Borong Lebih Dulu

LINK Jumps 5% After Mantle Moves $2.5 Billion - Whales Were Already Buying Ahead of the News

Chainlink (LINK) surged more than 5% after Mantle completed its $2.5 billion Super Portal migration to Chainlink’s cross-chain infrastructure (CCIP). The rally came amid an already heated market fueled by softening US inflation data, pushing LINK to trade around $8.29 with a brief touch of $8.40 - bringing its weekly gain to around 7%.

However, the more compelling story isn’t just about how much the price climbed, but rather who had already positioned themselves before the migration news broke.

Whales Were Already Moving Before the News Broke

On-chain data reveals a pattern that is hard to call a coincidence. The number of non-empty Ethereum wallets holding LINK surpassed 900,000 for the first time. Wallets holding more than 1,000 LINK reached their highest level of the year, while addresses holding over 100,000 LINK set a new record at 805 addresses.

This means large investors were accumulating ahead of the announcement - rather than reacting after the fact. This accumulation also appeared to absorb most of the sell pressure from a scheduled unlock of 21 million LINK tokens, an event that typically weighs on prices. Another signal of confidence came from the derivatives market: open interest rose around 10% alongside the price rally, signaling that genuine new leveraged positions were entering rather than just short covering.

Mantle Migration Just One of a Growing List

The Mantle deal adds to Chainlink’s expanding list of enterprise integrations. Aave chose Chainlink for automated vault rebalancing, and Robinhood utilizes Chainlink infrastructure across its Layer-2 ecosystem. This pattern sets LINK’s narrative apart from most altcoins: its value grows as more institutions adopt it as fundamental infrastructure, rather than purely on speculation.

From a technical standpoint, LINK is pressing against the upper boundary of a descending wedge formed since early June. A breakout above $8.20 directs it toward the $8.40 resistance - and if the daily candle closes above that level, the next targets are $8.70 followed by the psychological $9.00 mark. Indicators also lean bullish: the daily RSI sits around 60 recovering from oversold territory, Aroon Up is at 100 while Aroon Down is near zero, coupled with a bullish MACD crossover on the 4-hour chart and positive Chaikin Money Flow.

Not Without Headwinds

Despite the strong setup, the path upward is not entirely smooth. Upcoming US PPI data and forthcoming comments from the Federal Reserve could disrupt monetary easing expectations that have been underpinning risk appetite. Geopolitical tensions or a spike in oil prices could also cool market sentiment at any moment. If LINK fails to hold above $8.20, the first key test of support lies at $8.00. For traders, moments like this demand one thing: ride the momentum while keeping in mind that macro catalysts can reverse course overnight.
