While some market participants anxiously await Bitcoin’s next move, one of Wall Street’s most prominent investment banks has been busy scooping up coins. According to on-chain data, Morgan Stanley added nearly 1,000 BTC over the past two weeks - and did so precisely while prices were correcting.
Blockchain intelligence platform Arkham noted that the bank now holds 5,761 BTC valued at approximately $369.9 million, or around Rp6 trillion. That figure positions Morgan Stanley as one of the largest institutional Bitcoin holders tracked on the platform.
Accumulated Gradually, Not in a Single Purchase
Interestingly, the 1,000 BTC addition was not the result of a single large purchase. Arkham’s transaction history reveals a series of inflows from Coinbase Prime wallets - starting from a transfer of 495.8 BTC, followed by 171.9 BTC, 166.2 BTC, 154.8 BTC, down to smaller tranches over the last 14 hours. This gradual pattern is characteristic of institutional settlement activity rather than spontaneous speculation.
Arkham itself classifies this entity as a fund, an exchange-traded product, and a Bitcoin ‘whale’, with 11 tracked wallet addresses. Even so, the platform cannot confirm whether these transactions are direct proprietary purchases by the bank, client subscriptions, or other operational inflows into its investment products. What is clear, however, is that this is not the first time Morgan Stanley has ‘bought the dip’.
Wider Crypto Access for High-Net-Worth Investors
This latest accumulation builds on moves made by Morgan Stanley Wealth Management last June, which expanded its digital asset services through a referral partnership with Galaxy Digital. Under the program, high-net-worth clients can lend Bitcoin, Ether, and Solana to Galaxy Digital and receive shares in crypto investment products - including the Morgan Stanley Bitcoin Trust. This structure allows investors to shift crypto exposure into a strictly regulated vehicle without having to sell their digital assets first, and is claimed to cut onboarding time by up to 75%.
For retail investors, quiet moves like these often speak louder than social media hype. When an institution of Morgan Stanley’s caliber expands its position precisely during market slumps, it signals how major players view corrections: not as an alarm, but as a discount window. Of course, signals are no guarantee - but institutional accumulation patterns amid market weakness are always worth watching.
