Robinhood Taruh $25 Juta Bitcoin di Neraca Perusahaan - Petingginya Sendiri Akui Tak Akan Mengubah Arah Bisnis

Robinhood Puts $25 Million in Bitcoin on Its Balance Sheet - Exec Admits It Won’t Shift Business Direction

Robinhood has taken a new step by adding $25 million worth of Bitcoin directly onto its corporate balance sheet. Robinhood’s SVP and GM of Crypto & International, Johann Kerbrat, announced the treasury asset addition during an interview at the Digital Asset Summit (DAS) Asia event in Singapore.

While it may seem substantial to retail investors, the figure is modest for a public company of its size. Kerbrat acknowledged that this cash capital allocation will not change Robinhood’s core business roadmap moving forward.

“Robinhood is currently a massive company with a market cap of around $100 billion. So $25 million worth of Bitcoin won’t change the company’s direction much right now,” Kerbrat said, noting the decision was made purely to align their vision with the crypto community.

How Does It Compare to Other Public Companies?

The $25 million purchase automatically adds Robinhood’s name to the list of over 170 public companies that have converted part of their cash reserves into crypto assets. MicroStrategy pioneered the crypto treasury trend back in 2020, which has steadily spread across other industry sectors.

However, Robinhood’s holding remains dwarfed when compared to other corporate portfolios. MicroStrategy alone acquired 334 BTC worth $28.7 million in just the past week. The software firm now holds a total of 848,000 BTC.

Other major names have also continued stacking similar reserve assets. Tesla, Block, MARA Holdings, CleanSpark, and Riot Platforms collectively hold more than 1.2 million BTC on their balance sheets today.

Layer-2 Expansion and Futures Contracts

Behind the symbolic balance sheet move, Robinhood’s crypto operations engine is running at full throttle. Throughout August, notional crypto trading volume on its platform surpassed $17.5 billion, marking a 61% increase from July, which stood at $10.9 billion.

A funded user base directly supports this active trading volume. Robinhood currently serves over 28 million accounts worldwide, split between 27 million US-based customers and 1 million international users.

Its infrastructure footprint is also expanding into layer-2 networks via Robinhood Chain. The Arbitrum-based L2 network has already processed over $12 billion in decentralized exchange (DEX) volume and facilitated 150 million transactions through late July.

Robinhood’s focus is now shifting toward rolling out advanced trading instruments. The company plans to offer perpetual futures contracts to eligible US users. The initial token rollout includes BTC, ETH, SOL, XRP, DOGE, ADA, LINK, and HYPE. For Bitcoin and Ethereum trades, users can access up to 10x leverage, while Robinhood caps the remaining six assets at a maximum of 3x.

To attract early sign-ups, management is cutting its profit margins. Robinhood has set perpetual futures trading fees at 0.01% and committed to maintaining that rate through the end of 2026.

A $25 million allocation on the balance sheet may simply be a symbolic gesture for a company valued in the hundreds of billions of dollars. Yet, through its lineup of derivatives products, surging user activity, and layer-2 network expansion, Robinhood’s commitment to the crypto market shows it is ready to compete on the front lines.
