Vitalik Buterin Susun Ulang Cetak Biru Ethereum - Kini Bergantung pada AI dan Kriptografi Anti-Kuantum

Vitalik Buterin Redrafts Ethereum Blueprint - Now Relying on AI and Quantum-Resistant Cryptography

Vitalik Buterin has revealed updates to Ethereum’s technical direction, comparing the initial targets of the 2023 roadmap against the “Strawmap” - the network’s current long-term technical blueprint. The comparison highlights the addition of three key priorities that were previously absent: significantly stronger privacy, technical specification simplification or “lean-ification”, and an architecture specifically designed to survive in the post-quantum era.

These three new pillars did not emerge suddenly. Throughout 2026, preparations against the threat of quantum computers dominated the core developers’ desks. In January, Buterin urged the ecosystem to adopt quantum-resistant cryptography long before the threat actually materialized, followed by the establishment of a dedicated post-quantum team by the Ethereum Foundation.

The series of preparations continued a month later with the release of a phased plan to replace four Ethereum cryptographic components deemed most vulnerable to hacking. The climax occurred this July, when Buterin proposed a comprehensive overhaul called “Lean Ethereum”. The goal is clear: to strip away the remnants of the old architecture and replace them with alternatives immune to future quantum machines.

The Mandatory Role of Artificial Intelligence

In executing this transition, Ethereum is increasingly relying on STARKs - a cryptographic technology for verifying computations. However, basic-level specification overhauls are forcing network architects to look for tools beyond conventional manual testing methods.

At this point, artificial intelligence has transitioned from a mere tech trend to an essential work tool. Buterin emphasized that the overhaul of cryptographic foundations demands mathematical verification that is impossible to perform with the human eye alone. “This can only be secure with formal verification, which itself is only feasible with modern AI tools,” Buterin stated.

The network scaling approach is also being revised. Instead of trying to maximize computational capacity for all types of activity, Ethereum’s design now leans toward creating specific mechanisms with strict limitations that are actually easier to scale. This new mechanism is specifically designed to handle the network’s heaviest activities, such as token transfers and asset swaps, while opening up the infrastructure for multi-layered privacy protocols in the future.

Not Just Chasing Speed

This shift in direction marks the end of an era of updates solely focused on cutting gas fees and competing on transaction speeds. The largest smart contract network is busy building a defense layer for computational threats that are not even fully operational in the real world today.

“Ethereum will be quantum-safe. Ethereum will prioritize user privacy. Ethereum will be secure. Ethereum will be censorship-resistant. Ethereum will be highly performant and scalable. And Ethereum will be Lean,” Buterin said, summarizing his long-term vision.

For decentralized application developers, the message of this update is clear: the network they build on is preparing to dismantle its own basic architecture, solely to keep this ecosystem intact when the first quantum computer finally turns on.
