Gaji 2.300 Kurir Jepang Cair Pakai Stablecoin - JPYC Raup $38 Juta untuk Rambah Kasir Lawson

Wages of 2,300 Japanese Couriers Paid via Stablecoin - JPYC Raises $38M to Expand to Lawson Registers

Japanese regulated yen stablecoin issuer, JPYC Inc., has raised an extended Series B funding round reaching 6 billion yen, or approximately $38 million. The funds will not only fill the company’s coffers but also directly open the door for integration into Japan’s logistics and retail industries.

Instant Wages for Thousands of Contractors

Japanese logistics company, AZ-COM Maruwa Holdings, is leading this adoption by injecting an investment of 1 billion yen, or about $6.3 million, into JPYC’s funding round. This investment also seals a strategic alliance to overhaul the company’s internal payment flows.

AZ-COM Maruwa plans to use the JPYC stablecoin to pay delivery fees and wages to approximately 2,300 of their delivery partners and individual contractors. This move is in response to the dual pressures currently facing the Japanese logistics industry: an aging workforce and increasingly strict overtime regulations.

The digital asset system offers direct efficiency on the ground. With the stablecoin cutting transfer fees to zero, the company can completely eliminate its reliance on conventional banking networks. This system promises a much faster transaction settlement process, allowing workers to receive their payments immediately after tasks are completed.

Entering Lawson Cash Registers

Beyond the logistics sector, JPYC’s movement is also reaching daily retail customers. The Lawson convenience store chain has begun piloting payments using the JPYC stablecoin at its Takanawa Gateway City branch since August 6. In this initial phase, customers transact via the HashPort Wallet application.

Lawson’s trial does not stop with local crypto assets. The company has scheduled a second phase on August 17 at its Gate City Osaki store. In this phase, they will add payment options using the dollar stablecoins USDC and USDT, connected directly through MetaMask wallets.

What Is Being Tested in This System?

This series of retail trials is purely aimed at collecting field data. Lawson’s management wants to evaluate the transaction processing speed of digital assets at the checkout counter. Beyond that, they are testing the robustness of the integration between the blockchain infrastructure and the existing point-of-sale (POS) cash register systems.

All findings from the two pilot outlets will serve as a deciding factor before Lawson opens this crypto payment gateway to its entire store network. If the network performance can match the agility of daily retail transactions, shoppers and delivery couriers will eventually share one convenience: moving money without having to wait in conventional banking system queues.
