Binance registered its local entity, BBrasil, with the Central Bank of Brazil on Friday, Oct. 23, 2026. The crypto exchange formally submitted its application for a virtual asset service provider (VASP) license, exactly one week before the registration deadline set by local regulators.
The move was taken to meet the regulatory deadline of Friday, Oct. 30, 2026, which requires registered crypto exchanges to remain eligible to operate under transitional rules in one of Latin America’s largest crypto markets. However, as part of local regulatory compliance adjustments, Binance immediately imposed a series of product restrictions for users in the country.
Requirements to Remain Under Transitional Rules
The Oct. 30, 2026 deadline marks a decisive moment for crypto exchange operations in Brazil. Strict regulations in the country require exchanges to register with Banco Central do Brasil to continue operating during the regulatory transition period.
Although the license application documents have been submitted, Binance has not automatically secured official approval. The Central Bank of Brazil emphasized that filing license application documents cannot be automatically interpreted as approval or final regulatory clearance.
Two Services Suspended and 22 Cryptos Delisted
Adjustments to local regulations have immediately reshaped the roster of services available in Brazil. Starting Tuesday, Oct. 27, 2026, Binance rolled out a series of restrictions, halting crypto lending and margin trading services for all users in Brazil.
The cutbacks continued across the platform’s digital asset offerings. Binance officially delisted 22 crypto assets specifically for users in Brazil to align its product portfolio with local compliance requirements. Local users can no longer trade those 22 crypto assets within the app.
Binance Brazil General Manager Thiago Sarandy confirmed that the filing maintains user access to spot trading, stablecoins, payments, and investments. Sarandy also expressed hope that ongoing discussions with the central bank could allow for the eventual restoration of the suspended services.
For users in Brazil, these regulatory adjustments bring a tangible impact on daily instrument options. While access to spot trading, payments, and stablecoins remains operational, crypto lending facilities, margin trading, and 22 digital assets have officially been shut down pending licensing certainty from the central bank.
