The line between traditional stock markets and crypto is blurring. Bitget has recently expanded its Stock Dual Investment product options from six to more than 20 US stock token and ETF assets. This expansion directly integrates the shares of the world’s most liquid technology companies - such as Nvidia, Tesla, Apple, Meta, Amazon, AMD, Intel, and TSMC - into the crypto platform’s trading ecosystem.
In addition to pure tech stocks, the exchange lists stock tokens of companies whose movements often align with crypto prices, namely Coinbase, Circle, and corporate Bitcoin holder MicroStrategy. Traders who favor high volatility get additional options in the form of leveraged semiconductor ETFs such as rSOXL and rSOXS. All of these assets are in the form of rTokens that have been operating on the Reality platform since last May. The mechanism uses a 1:1 backing of actual shares, where the physical shares are held off-chain through licensed broker and custodian arrangements.
Why Shift the Time to 11 AM New York Time
The asset expansion is accompanied by technical changes to the settlement hours of the Stock Dual Investment product. Bitget has shifted the settlement time to 23:30 UTC+8, which coincides with 11:00 AM New York time. This adjustment is designed to capture the price volatility that often occurs at the start of the cash trading sessions on the Nasdaq and NYSE.
Marrying these two asset classes has proven to bear fruit. Bitget CEO Gracy Chen stated that trading tokenized traditional assets is not just a supplementary feature, but already accounts for 20% to 30% of Bitget’s total spot trading volume over the past quarter. Their internal data also reveals that 52% of users indeed hold both stocks and crypto in their respective portfolios. This participation has driven the total accumulated value of tokenized stock products on the Bitget platform to exceed $100 million.
Not Just Buying and Selling Tokens
The addition of dozens of stock tokens goes hand in hand with their plans to penetrate a much stricter market. Currently, Bitget is preparing the establishment of a fully independent entity in the United States. The primary target of this new entity is to secure three key licenses there: a money transmitter license, derivative trading permission, and broker-dealer status.
This maneuver serves as early preparation to serve US retail and institutional clients with official licensing. They chose the independent registration route to ensure they can still enter the US market regardless of the status of the CLARITY Act crypto legislation currently under discussion. If these licenses are approved, Bitget will not merely sell reflections of American stocks via crypto from afar, but will operate directly under the eyes of Washington regulators.
