Crypto Market Cap Adds $66 Billion - But Over Half of Coins Close in the Red

The total crypto market capitalization grew by $66 billion in a single day, rising from $2.611 trillion yesterday to $2.677 trillion today. Today’s headline numbers look convincing - but the underlying data tells the story of a two-speed market.

Majority Left Behind in the Red

Daily market reports show that 51.1% of coins recorded losses out of 962 assets fully tracked over the past 24 hours. Only 45.4% of coins managed to end the trading session in green territory. The median price change remained virtually flat at -0.01%. Market activity was largely stagnant for most coins, contrasting with the impression of a broad-based rally that typically accompanies such a substantial jump in aggregate market cap.

Positive Signals Fail to Spread Evenly

Technical trends for large-cap coins still indicate buyer dominance. Out of 88 tracked assets, 53 are charting an uptrend compared to just 10 in a bearish posture. In the derivatives market, SOL funding rates heated up, landing in the 96.4th percentile over the past seven days.

However, strong momentum among this handful of major coins failed to lift the rest of the market. The BTC funding rate actually dropped by 0.002% over the last hour, sliding from 0.0065% to 0.0046%.

A New Phase of Capital Selection

The Fear & Greed sentiment index slipped to 57 today, falling further from its seven-day average of 65.7 as market participants begin filtering risk. Internal radar detected 91 combined market anomalies emerging within the last hour. One analytics radar source also documented an activity spike of 17.9% above the weekly average baseline.

Aggregate market valuation expanded by tens of billions of dollars today. However, those gains belonged exclusively to a few mega-caps rather than trickling down to the broader altcoin market.
