Gemini Siram PAC Trump $10 Juta Bitcoin - Tiga Minggu Setelah CFTC Minta Denda Mereka Dibatalkan

Gemini Pours $10M in Bitcoin into Trump Super PAC - Three Weeks After CFTC Moved to Dismiss Fine

Crypto exchange Gemini Trust Company, led by Cameron and Tyler Winklevoss, sent two contributions each worth over $5 million in Bitcoin to the MAGA Inc. Super PAC on June 19. The total $10 million crypto donation to the Donald Trump-aligned organization was officially disclosed in a July filing submitted to the Federal Election Commission (FEC).

What drew scrutiny to the transfer was not just the amount, but the timing, coming in close proximity to the company’s legal proceedings.

A Timeline Raising Questions

The Bitcoin transfer came just three weeks after the US Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) took an unusual step. The agency joined Gemini in filing a motion to vacate a $5 million fine imposed in January 2025. In the underlying legal case, Gemini had been accused of making false or misleading statements to the commission.

Current CFTC Chairman Michael Selig claimed that under the Joe Biden administration, the agency had politically targeted the Winklevoss twins. The CFTC is currently governed by a single commissioner - Selig himself - instead of the usual five, as the remaining four positions have yet to be filled by Trump.

Although the motion to vacate has been filed, the court for the Southern District of New York (SDNY) has not yet issued a final ruling. Their agreement includes a specific clause: if the fine is ultimately dismissed by the judge, the $5 million will not be refunded to Gemini.

Successive Injections into the Political Machine

The influx of donations to MAGA Inc. adds to a growing list of support from the Winklevoss brothers for Trump’s political apparatus. Previously, the twin exchange founders had each donated $1 million directly to Trump’s 2024 campaign.

Their financial backing went even further with a $21 million Bitcoin transfer to the Digital Freedom Fund PAC. They openly made this massive contribution for one clear reason: to support Trump’s pro-crypto policy agenda.

The heavy influx of crypto funds provides significant financial muscle to groups backing the president. Separate filings highlight that MAGA Inc. had received over $397 million in total contributions through the period ending June 30.

Lobbying and Regulation on the Same Track

The timing of Gemini’s financial moves alongside regulatory relief has drawn sharp criticism from Democrats. Senator Elizabeth Warren called the joint CFTC-Gemini motion to vacate a troubling sign that the CFTC is bowing to political pressure.

The crypto industry now awaits the SDNY federal judge’s ruling on the motion to dismiss Gemini’s sanctions. The company’s legal battles run parallel to tens of millions of dollars in Bitcoin flowing into national politics, blurring the line between campaign donations and regulatory relief.
