Ethereum’s price is attempting to recover toward the $2,300 threshold after market pressure stemming from a $6.3 billion hack on Binance began to ease. This upward push is unfolding amid split capital flows: institutional investment products on U.S. exchanges continue to record withdrawals, while the underlying network is locking up an all-time high share of coin supply.
A stark divergence has emerged between the behavior of stock exchange capital allocators and validators on the blockchain network.
Consecutive ETF Outflows Clash with Record Staking
Spot Ethereum ETF products in the U.S. market posted consecutive outflows across five trading sessions from October 26 to 30. Cumulative withdrawals from these instruments reached $431.4 million.
Farside Investors data recorded the largest daily withdrawal on October 30, with $155.7 million in outflows. That daily figure surged nearly twofold compared to the $220.7 million in total withdrawals seen over the prior five-session trading period.
The opposite trend unfolded directly on the Ethereum network. CryptoQuant data shows that coins committed to the staking system on the consensus layer hit a new record of nearly 43.8 million locked ETH. That staked total represents 35.9% of the circulating supply, supported by the involvement of 814,000 active validators securing the network.
Short Pressure Mounts in Derivatives Market
The withdrawal of institutional capital has coincided with deteriorating sentiment on futures exchanges. Ethereum derivative funding rates have slumped to their lowest level since the market bottom formed in June. The depressed cost of funding these contracts reflects strong demand for short positions, signaling the dominance of market participants anticipating price declines.
Conditions in the derivatives market indicate that most contract traders remain skeptical about the staying power of the spot price rebound toward the $2,300 mark.
Critical $2,250 Threshold and the Risk Toward $1,850
From a technical analysis standpoint, ETH’s daily Relative Strength Index (RSI) stands at 34.15. This reading is moving closer to the oversold threshold of 30, suggesting that the selling pressure buffeting the market is nearing its natural exhaustion limit.
The immediate test for price recovery lies at the critical weekly support zone of $2,250. Defending this price level is a key determinant for ETH to sustain its advance toward the $2,300 target. Conversely, if the recovery momentum falters and $2,250 is broken to the downside, the market faces the risk of an extended correction below $1,850.
For market participants tracking current price action, the $2,250 zone serves as a key benchmark: staying above that boundary preserves the chance of technical upside, while a breakdown below opens the threat of a much deeper decline.
