President Donald Trump purchased between $50,001 and $100,000 worth of Strategy stock in July, according to a US Office of Government Ethics filing released on Tuesday. The transaction, executed on July 27, stands as the largest crypto-related move across the president’s portfolio in the filing. This purchase matches his largest transaction record on February 12, when his portfolio also acquired Strategy shares within the same value range of $50,001 to $100,000.
Selling Miners, Entering Exchanges
The US government ethics filing also revealed other crypto equity transactions in Trump’s investment basket. Throughout July, there was a clear rotation of assets: funds flowed in to acquire shares of crypto exchange Coinbase, while positions in two Bitcoin mining firms, MARA Holdings and CleanSpark, were offloaded to the market.
Despite the various movements, the capital injection into Strategy on July 27 retained the record for the highest transaction value in the crypto sector within the filing. The public cannot see the exact remaining Strategy shares in Trump’s holdings today. Ethics reporting rules only require recording value ranges when buy or sell actions occur, not the running balance of total ownership.
White House Defense
Reports that the president’s portfolio acquired shares in a company synonymous with Bitcoin quickly triggered a response. The White House clarified to CNBC that Trump’s stock and bond portfolios are managed entirely by a third-party financial institution. This institution operates independently without any intervention, input, or direction from Trump or his family members.
Regardless of who made the decision behind it, the timing of the purchase has proven profitable so far. Strategy stock has surged, recording a gain of nearly 30% over the last five trading days and posting growth of around 37% over the past month.
Other Institutions Continue Accumulating
The accumulation trend in Trump’s portfolio aligns with moves by other major corporate entities in the Bitcoin ecosystem. Strategy itself has not stopped expanding its reserves, purchasing 950 BTC worth $75.7 million during the week ending September 20. This latest move bolstered their treasury, which now holds 846,000 BTC.
This supply absorption was also mirrored by other institutional players. Strive recently completed the purchase of 1,355 BTC between September 14 and September 18.
While bureaucratic filings emphasize the distance between the president and his investment decisions, market figures show something else: institutional capital continues to flow heavily into digital assets.
