Platform Kripto Terdaftar Resmi di Inggris - tapi 10.000 Pengaduan Masuk Akibat Transfer Diblokir Bank

UK Crypto Platforms Are Officially Registered - But Over 10,000 Complaints Filed as Banks Block Transfers

A total of 10,092 complaints were filed by 9,803 customers in the UK across a 90-day period between May and August 2026. A report by Stand with Crypto UK in October 2026 noted that the grievances arose from customers struggling to transfer funds to crypto platforms registered with the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA). The issue was documented across all 650 UK parliamentary constituencies.

Data as of June 2026 indicates that roughly 40% of crypto transactions were blocked or restricted by UK banks. The situation has caused significant friction, given that customers were attempting to deposit funds into platforms holding official authorization from the country’s own financial regulator.

Lloyds and Barclays Receive the Most Complaints

Four major banking groups logged over 1,000 complaints each. Lloyds Banking Group, which includes Halifax and Bank of Scotland, topped the list with 2,297 complaints. Barclays ranked second with 1,569 complaints, followed by NatWest Group (including Royal Bank of Scotland) with 1,278, and HSBC UK exceeding 1,000 reports.

The majority of complaints came from customers of banks with publicly disclosed transfer caps. Banks with public transaction limits accounted for 6,198 complaints. Institutions without published limits received 2,842 complaints, while those with outright bans recorded 989. Neither Lloyds nor Revolut publishes official limits, yet customers from both institutions consistently reported issues completing transfers.

Transfer Limits Across UK Banks

Banks enforce varying limits on customers transferring funds to crypto exchanges. Barclays and HSBC UK cap transfers at £2,500 per transaction and £10,000 per 30-day period. NatWest restricts transfers to £1,000 per day and £5,000 per 30 days. Santander limits transactions to £1,000 per transfer and £3,000 per 30 days. Digital bank Monzo caps outbound transfers at £5,000 per 30 days, while Nationwide enforces a £1,000 daily limit.

Six lenders have taken a stricter approach by imposing complete bans on crypto-related transfers: Starling Bank, TSB, Chase UK, Metro Bank, Virgin Money, and The Co-operative Bank. Customers at these institutions have no transfer allowance and face immediate rejections when attempting to deposit funds onto digital asset platforms.

Parliamentary Scrutiny Ahead of 2027 Rules

The UK is preparing to bring crypto asset firms under a comprehensive regulatory framework by 2027. In August 2026, the cross-party Crypto and Digital Assets All-Party Parliamentary Group in the UK Parliament questioned how the banking sector treats crypto businesses.

Stand with Crypto has urged banks to replace blanket bans and rigid limits with case-by-case, data-driven risk assessments. For UK consumers, using an FCA-registered platform still provides no guarantee of seamless transactions while banks continue to enforce unilateral blocks and restrictions.
