Apple Hapus Telegram dari App Store Global - Pengguna Lama Aman, Tapi Pintu Masuk Kripto Tertutup

Apple Removes Telegram from Global App Store - Existing Users Safe, But Crypto Entry Point Blocked

The Telegram messaging app has suddenly disappeared from the Apple App Store worldwide. Reports of the platform’s removal originated from a tweet by the @WatcherGuru account on X, which quickly garnered 27,730 likes and 2,761 retweets. The news rapidly became one of today’s most viral topics within the global crypto community, including its large user base in Indonesia.

The immediate impact of this removal by Apple splits users based on their device status. For new iOS users intending to download the app, the door is now closed and they can no longer find Telegram in the official app store. However, for iPhone owners who had already installed the app, Apple’s system still allows them to use Telegram’s features as usual without unilateral access termination.

A Now-Restricted Coordination Hub

Telegram’s disappearance from Apple’s main storefront has a tangible impact on the crypto industry’s daily routines. For years, the platform has been more than just a chat tool; it has served as a central coordination hub for various sectors, ranging from decentralized finance (DeFi), NFT trading, to the development of new crypto projects worldwide.

Project creators and investors rely heavily on the app’s group ecosystem. The majority of key activities, such as trading signal sharing, market direction discussions, token presales, and airdrop campaigns, are centered on Telegram channels. The lack of a download path for new Apple devices creates adoption barriers for new crypto projects that rely on Telegram’s ease of use to attract early community participants.

What Triggered Apple’s Move?

Until this information spread widely, there has been no official statement containing the exact reason behind Apple’s policy of removing Telegram. However, the app’s track record has never been far from legal issues. Telegram is recorded to have repeatedly faced regulators in various countries, with criticism centering on data encryption issues and the lack of user content filtering.

Tensions over content control once led to the arrest of a company executive. In 2024, French legal authorities detained Telegram’s founder and CEO, Pavel Durov. The detention of this central figure was closely linked to content moderation issues ongoing within his platform’s network.

Now, crypto market participants face an urgent reality. Their go-to communication infrastructure - which has championed the idea of decentralization for years - turns out to rely on third-party platforms whose rules can change at any time without prior agreement.
