Giliran Bank Terbesar Italia Buka Pintu - UniCredit Siapkan Layanan Trading Kripto dan Kustodi

Italy’s Largest Bank Opens Doors - UniCredit Prepares Crypto Trading and Custody Services

UniCredit is beginning to take a position in the digital asset market. Italy’s largest commercial bank is looking for technology providers capable of designing a complete infrastructure for crypto trading, digital asset custody systems, and direct access to tokenized investment products.

According to internal sources speaking to Bloomberg, partnership discussions remain in the early stages. UniCredit management has not publicly named any prospective technology partners. Even so, they have already locked in three core areas of interest for development: crypto brokerage and custody services, the rollout of tokenized investment products, and the issuance of fixed-income securities running on stablecoins.

Global Banks Rush In

The initial move by the Italian institution adds to an accelerating adoption trend. Throughout September, a lineup of tier-1 traditional banks worldwide began unveiling their crypto services one after another.

On September 3, Standard Chartered led the way by launching a spot trading facility dedicated to Bitcoin and Ethereum. The new service is aimed at serving transaction volumes from institutional clients operating in the United Arab Emirates.

A week later on September 10, US Bank completed a live cross-border payment transaction. The transfer utilized their proprietary USBDC stablecoin. Shortly after, Citi and DBS finalized their first tokenized cross-border deposit settlement late last week, processing it entirely through the Swift banking communications network.

Building Long-Term Infrastructure

Preparations by global banking facilities are designed to meet future institutional demand. In the Middle East, Israel’s Bank Leumi recently formalized a partnership with Galaxy Digital to establish digital asset trading rails.

Bank Leumi customers will eventually gain access to buy and sell Bitcoin, Ethereum, and Solana. All crypto trading features will be integrated directly into the bank’s existing investment platform, with an initial launch slated for 2027.

The flurry of activity across Europe, the Americas, and the Middle East underscores one key shift: top-tier conventional banks are getting serious. Rather than passively observing market moves, they are deploying capital to actively build their own crypto infrastructure. Reported via Cointelegraph.
