Curi 185 Bitcoin dan Pamer Lamborghini di Discord - Pemuda 20 Tahun Divonis Time Served di Miami

Stole 185 Bitcoin and Flaunted Lamborghini on Discord - 20-Year-Old Sentenced to Time Served in Miami

A Miami federal court has sentenced Trenton Johnston, a 20-year-old Canadian national, to time served for his role in a money laundering conspiracy tied to a crypto theft scheme exceeding $13 million. The court ruling was handed down after prosecutors confirmed that Johnston provided substantial assistance in the investigation of other perpetrators.

Posing as Google and Trezor Support Agents

The cybercrime ring involving Johnston operated by impersonating official technical support staff. They contacted targets posing as service representatives from Google and hardware wallet maker Trezor.

One victim in California lost 185 BTC, valued at nearly $13 million at the time, after being contacted by the fraudulent crew. Johnston sent a message to an associate regarding the heist: “We actually smacked a 185btc target today.”

A witness told investigators that Johnston frequently shared his screen on Discord, using live streams on the platform to demonstrate his crypto theft methods to others.

Nightclub Parties and Lamborghini Purchase in Miami

The proceeds of the crime were spent on lavish luxury items. Johnston purchased a Lamborghini Aventador SVJ, two BMWs, expensive jewelry, chartered private jets, and funded nightclub parties across the Miami area.

During his stay in Miami, Johnston was assisted by an associate, Brandon Michael Tardibone. Tardibone was also charged by authorities for providing luxury accommodations in the Miami area to help Johnston evade immigration authorities.

Surrender of Seized Crypto and Time-Served Sentence

Following his arrest by law enforcement, Johnston surrendered seized crypto assets consisting of 53.16 BTC and 275.23 ETH to investigators. The seized assets were valued at roughly $3.8 million, representing 29.1% of the minimum total loss of $13.04 million.

The substantial assistance Johnston provided in the investigation of other conspirators formed the basis for prosecutors supporting a sentence of time served. For crypto holders, the case highlights that fraudulent calls impersonating hardware wallet manufacturers and tech support services remain a major conduit for high-value crypto theft.
