Celah Screen Sharing macOS Dieksploitasi - Hacker Retas Ribuan Komputer Apple untuk Tambang Monero

macOS Screen Sharing Vulnerability Exploited - Hackers Compromise Thousands of Apple Computers to Mine Monero

A cryptojacking attack is now directly targeting Apple computer users through a vulnerability in a built-in operating system feature. Hackers are exploiting a vulnerability in the screen sharing feature within macOS to inject Monero cryptocurrency mining malware into thousands of computers, as revealed in a Cryptonews.net report on August 16, 2026. This exploitation opens a dangerous entry point for hackers to hijack the computing power of victims’ hardware without permission.

The perpetrators designed this attack to operate fully behind the scenes without triggering suspicion. The exploitation technique leverages privileged access from the screen sharing feature to execute the crypto mining process in the background. As a result, the victims’ computers are constantly forced to work hard solving crypto blocks without the knowledge of their owners. This computational hijacking runs silently while draining hardware power and depleting the battery capacity of every compromised computer.

Why Choose Monero’s CPU Algorithm

The hackers’ choice fell on Monero purely due to the built-in technical specifications of the privacy coin. As a digital asset fully focused on the confidentiality of the transacting parties’ identities, Monero offers a high level of anonymity that makes the flow of stolen funds difficult to trace. In addition to absolute identity protection, Monero relies on a unique mining algorithm structure called RandomX.

The specific characteristics of RandomX provide a logical reason why this attack targets ordinary laptops and desktops. From the start, this mining algorithm was designed to be more efficient when run on conventional Central Processing Units (CPUs) compared to high-end graphics cards (GPUs). This technical specification provides ample opportunity for hackers, considering the majority of macOS users utilize standard daily CPU processors whose power is vulnerable to being hijacked to run illegal mining software behind the scenes.

A Series of Threats in the Apple Ecosystem

The breach of system defenses through this built-in screen sharing flaw further adds to the long list of cybersecurity crises targeting crypto users within the Apple ecosystem. The Apple computer environment has recently been repeatedly shaken by digital manipulation threats. This macOS miner malware intrusion occurred shortly after a wave of fake applications posing as crypto services, which impersonated DefiLlama and Phantom Wallet, successfully bypassed official App Store vetting.

The evolution of this attack proves that hackers are now increasingly shifting from merely creating deceptive apps in app stores to exploiting built-in operating system functions. Given that the vulnerability originates from a native system function, all macOS users are advised to immediately update their OS version to receive the latest security patches. As an additional line of defense, users should access their system settings to turn off the screen sharing feature whenever the screen-sharing tool is not in use. Reported by Cryptonews.net.
