Trump Undang Bos Kripto ke Gedung Putih Rabu Ini - Saat Peluang Lolosnya CLARITY Act Tersisa 20%

Trump Invites Crypto Executives to White House This Wednesday - As CLARITY Act Passage Odds Drop to 20%

President Trump gathered leaders from the crypto, prediction market, and artificial intelligence (AI) industries at the White House on Wednesday, August 19, 2026. This high-profile meeting brought together a lineup of top executives: the CEOs of Coinbase, Ripple, Gemini, Robinhood, Polymarket, and Kalshi were confirmed to attend. They will sit at the same table and go head-to-head with leaders of traditional market-making financial institutions, ranging from CME Group, Nasdaq, and Intercontinental Exchange, to DTCC.

Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) Chairman Mike Selig is scheduled to attend the discussion. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent and Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick are also highly likely to join, rounding out the government officials overseeing the meeting.

However, this White House red carpet is rolled out just as regulatory progress hits a red light at both the institutional and parliamentary levels.

Double Pressure from SEC and CFTC

The meeting takes place during a critical time for the digital asset ecosystem. The Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) recently delayed a decision on the “innovation exemption” rule, which was expected to pave the way for tokenized stock products. This regulatory hold introduces a new obstacle to the crypto industry’s push into traditional stock markets.

Meanwhile, a day after the CEOs visit the White House, another committee is preparing to convene. On Thursday, August 20, the CFTC Innovation Advisory Committee will hold its inaugural meeting. Their main agenda includes a panel session titled “Crypto’s Regulatory Evolution: From Uncertainty to Clarity” - an ironic title given that uncertainty is actually thickening in Washington.

Stalled by the President’s Personal Ethics

The primary source of uncertainty centers on the fate of the CLARITY Act, the most critical bill of the year, which remains stalled in the Senate. The legislation designed to clarify digital asset regulations is effectively held hostage by the president. The future of this bill now depends entirely on one condition: whether Trump is willing to accept stricter ethical restrictions regarding his personal crypto involvements.

Prediction markets have captured this pessimism in concrete numbers. According to betting data on the Polymarket platform as of August 17, 2026, the odds of the CLARITY Act being passed into law this year have plummeted to around 20%. This figure stands in stark contrast to the optimism at the start of the year, when the probability of its passage dominated above the 80% mark.

Bringing CEOs across the White House lawn may create headlines, but it does not automatically clear the legislative table. As long as the ethical conflicts surrounding the president’s personal assets remain unresolved, this crypto bill seems destined to gather dust in the Senate drawer - no matter how many Wall Street and Web3 bosses are brought in for discussions.
