A technical schedule awaits the XRP Ledger network in the second week of October 2026. Validators are preparing to activate two protocol upgrades that change how account holders grant access permissions and execute transactions.
The first amendment, PermissionDelegationV1_1, is scheduled to take effect around Oct. 8, 2026, if validator support holds. This upgrade enables an XRPL account to delegate specific transaction rights to another account without handing over its original master key. The qualifying validator majority threshold for this amendment was reached once again on Sept. 24 at 21:25 UTC.
This month’s rollout schedule does not stop at a single feature.
Batch Transactions and Companion Patch
A day later, on Oct. 9, the BatchV1_1 amendment is scheduled to go live. This second feature allows users to bundle up to eight separate transactions into a single coordinated batch execution.
To ensure the bundling feature operates safely, developers are also targeting the activation of a companion security amendment named fixBatchV1_2 on the same day. This patch addresses security concerns inherent to the batch transaction mechanism.
Calendar Catalysts Amid AI Volume
Beyond the code upgrades, industry events surrounding the Ripple ecosystem are also in motion. The XRP Seoul 2026 conference recently concluded on Oct. 3, featuring Ripple President Monica Long alongside banking executives from across Asia.
On the network usage front, artificial intelligence-linked payment activity (AI-linked payments) on XRPL has recorded robust volume. As of Oct. 3, 11,965,947 x402-formatted payments have flowed through the network, averaging 525,618 daily transactions over the past week. As an additional catalyst, Evernorth is scheduled to debut on the Nasdaq stock exchange in October.
Derivatives Buyers Mount a Defense
Amid the technical schedule and rollouts, the XRP token is working to maintain its footing in the open market. Buyers are currently battling to defend support at $1.45, with XRP trading around the $1.50 range.
XRP’s 14-day Relative Strength Index (RSI) now sits at 55.23. This reading indicates momentum remains in positive territory by clearing the neutral 50 level, while still leaving room to run below the overbought threshold of 70.
Even with prices holding steady, participation in the derivatives market appears to be contracting when viewed over a broader horizon. XRP open interest on the Binance exchange has dropped to 516.6 million, down sharply from its peak exceeding 1.3 billion in 2025. This decline in open contract volume presents a real test of market sentiment as the two key technical amendments go live.
