Aggressive buying patterns have once again surfaced across Ethereum’s on-chain activity. On-chain tracking account @lookonchain flagged simultaneous moves from several large wallets accumulating the asset. The buying spree is being led by industry veterans and fresh entities soaking up supply from exchanges. Among them is Arthur Hayes, who purchased 1,332.5 ETH worth $2.53 million roughly three hours before the data was published.
Yet Hayes’ capital injection is only a fraction of a much larger wave of accumulation this week.
Fresh Wallets and Veteran Players Step In
A wallet identified as 0x4cee has finally reactivated after three full months of dormant inactivity. The wallet owner spent $20 million in USDC to secure 10,501 ETH at an average price of $1,905 per coin. Separately, a new wallet identified as 0xf23c withdrew 12,800 ETH worth $24.47 million directly from Binance over the past 24 hours. Rather than sitting idle, all of the coins were promptly deposited into the network’s staking protocol.
These coordinated maneuvers align with posts from @lookonchain noting that numerous whales are now flocking to accumulate Ethereum. These individual steps blend with signs of reviving institutional interest. Reports highlighted in Google News pointed to a move where a whale wallet dormant for 11 months suddenly transferred $17.2 million worth of coins to liquidity provider Cumberland. Moving assets to an OTC desk like Cumberland is often an initial tactic to prepare for large institutional transactions, shielding them from slippage risks in the open market.
The Drivers Behind the Buying Spree
The string of purchases and fresh capital flows mirror strengthening market sentiment. Ethereum is widely believed to be well positioned to lead the next bull market phase. This perspective was echoed in an analyst review on Yahoo Finance, aligning with the optimism frequently expressed by Hayes.
This accumulation wave is also backed by momentum in traditional markets. Spot Ethereum ETF instruments logged fresh inflows of $105 million over the past week. The combination of ETF inflows and spot buying by major players points to a systematic effort to absorb available market supply.
The ICO Participant’s Massive Windfall
While fresh whales and institutions are busy snapping up coins at today’s market prices, an early participant took a different route. An early Ethereum ICO participant associated with address 0x45BB transferred 2,000 ETH worth $3.79 million to a new wallet after leaving it untouched for 11 full years.
The owner originally deployed just $620 during the initial coin offering. Today, that long-dormant micro-investment has yielded a staggering 6,113x return. While news of awakening legacy pioneers always steals the spotlight with eye-popping percentages, for traders tracking current capital flows, the true market signal lies in the cohort of new whales willing to put tens of millions of dollars in fresh cash on the table.
