Coinbase Buka Jalur Agen AI Belanja Sendiri - Bisnis Kini Terima Pembayaran Bot Pakai USDC

Coinbase Enables AI Agents to Shop Autonomously - Businesses Can Now Accept Bot Payments in USDC

The digital economy just welcomed a new player: machines carrying money. This week, Coinbase launched a new feature allowing Coinbase Business customers to accept payments directly from AI agents. Built on Coinbase’s proprietary x402 protocol, the system facilitates USDC payments without requiring complex setup on the merchant’s end.

Powered by Coinbase Payments, this feature aims to bridge a major gap in the AI agent economy. “We are delivering a checkout experience for the new online agentic economy,” said Head of Coinbase Business Sid Coelho-Prabhu. With this update, merchants and AI agent buyers can now transact seamlessly.

Bots Capable of Creating Their Own Wallets

AI agents in this ecosystem are not merely programs executing passive commands. They have the autonomous capability to onboard themselves into the financial system. These bots can read Coinbase developer documentation and, armed with those instructions, create their own crypto wallets and immediately make purchases at services accepting the x402 standard.

To support this machine-driven payment traffic, Coinbase equipped developers with a dedicated tool: the new x402 SDK. Developers can now integrate x402 payment rails into their APIs, MCP servers, and various web services. The integration is designed to be lightweight, requiring developers to add just three lines of code to start receiving USDC streams from active AI agents.

Institutional-Grade Data Access for Retail Users

Coinbase’s move also brings changes for everyday exchange users. The platform now provides a real-time order book specifically showcasing open orders placed by agents. Users can monitor order status, price levels, and agent transaction sizes in real time.

The most notable impact for retail users lies in how they interact with the market. Instead of navigating complex interfaces, users can now issue trading commands in natural language. Instructions like “buy ETH if it drops 5%” or “sell once my order fills” are instantly interpreted and executed automatically by AI agents behind the scenes.

This feature opens doors for everyday users. High-speed WebSocket data feeds, historically the exclusive domain of institutional trading desks, can now be leveraged directly through natural language prompts.

The x402 infrastructure shifts AI’s role from a mere data processor to an active economic entity. Money no longer moves solely between humans - it now flows seamlessly between lines of code.
