Crypto exchange Coinbase is opening Nasdaq initial public offering (IPO) share allocations to United States retail users starting this week. Smart health ring maker Oura is the first instrument offered, presenting 50 million shares with an estimated price range of $40 to $44 per share under the ticker OURA.
This expansion moves the digital asset trading platform into the conventional stockbrokerage ecosystem.
Queuing via Crypto App
Coinbase Capital Markets is now authorized to participate directly in IPOs following regulatory approval. Qualified US users can access the OURA offering from a dedicated section in the app, fund their accounts, and place a “Conditional Offer to Buy” order once the price range is published. Industry compliance standards require all prospective buyers to complete a FINRA questionnaire before transactions can be processed.
The ordering system does not guarantee that purchase quotas will be fulfilled. A user’s final allocation may be granted in full, partially reduced, or rejected. Allocation volume depends on total market demand and the portion of shares delivered to Coinbase by the underwriters.
Selecting Long-Term Holders
Coinbase’s internal allocation system uses a selection algorithm that prioritizes investors planning to hold the shares for the long term.
“The natural step is to give US customers early exposure to companies they care about before they go public,” a Coinbase spokesperson said regarding the addition of instruments beyond pure digital assets.
This stock integration ties into their ambition known as the “Everything Exchange” vision - a projection to turn the crypto app into a single platform for all forms of financial assets.
The line separating decentralized transactions from Wall Street is blurring further. For traditional retail stockbrokers, offering IPO access through a digital currency app serves as a warning that customers can invest in capital markets without ever leaving their crypto interface.
