Ondo Finance is targeting potential acquisitions valued between $250 million and $500 million. According to an anonymous source familiar with the matter, the real-world asset (RWA) tokenization platform is eyeing targets in the wealthtech sector, along with several other subsectors aligned with its business model.
Despite the substantial price range, Ondo has not yet appointed a formal advisor to handle the prospective transactions. Founded in 2021 by a team of former Goldman Sachs executives, the platform now manages over $2.5 billion in assets. The assets brought on-chain include traditional financial instruments such as US Treasuries and tokenized equities, establishing Ondo as one of the largest RWA providers.
The news of the potential acquisitions stands out even more when considering the company’s capital history.
Small Capital, Big Targets
The company’s ability to consider a half-billion-dollar acquisition is an anomaly given its fundraising history. Since its inception, Ondo has raised only $24 million in venture capital funding, alongside roughly $10 million from the public sale of its ONDO token.
With total funding hovering around $34 million, the $500 million acquisition plan underscores Ondo as one of the most capital-efficient crypto infrastructure firms, having built billions of dollars in assets under management from a modest initial capital base.
Ondo’s move aligns with this year’s crypto industry consolidation trend. Data shows that in the first quarter of 2026, the crypto sector recorded 89 mergers and acquisitions totaling $3.2 billion. Deal value surged to $12.9 billion in the second quarter - the second-highest quarterly figure on record.
Several other deals have already shaped this buying spree. Keyrock recently completed the acquisition of BlockFills assets, while Kraken acquired Bitnomial for $550 million, and Bullish, the owner of CoinDesk, took over Equiniti in a $4.2 billion transaction.
Measured Denial from Management
Although the anonymous source disclosed the figures and targeted sectors, Ondo’s management has declined to confirm the rumors. In an official response, they issued a measured denial.
“As a fast-growing company, Ondo regularly evaluates the market as part of normal business operations,” Ondo said in an official statement. “We are not in discussions with any party at this time.”
The denial did not cool market sentiment. Crypto traders responded to the reports by accumulating the platform’s native token. The price of ONDO rose 6% over the past 24 hours, trading around the $0.42 level at the time of publication.
The strong investor interest in the acquisition rumors signals that the market favors crypto companies preparing to expand amid industry consolidation, even when management remains tight-lipped.
