Lapak NFT Utama Berguguran di 2026 - Nifty Gateway Tutup Total hingga Magic Eden Pangkas Jaringan

Major NFT Marketplaces Falter in 2026 - Nifty Gateway Shuts Down, Magic Eden Trims Networks

The list of NFT trading platforms halting operations has grown longer throughout 2026. A wave of secondary market closures and service cutbacks by prominent platforms has sparked debate within the crypto community over the viability of the digital collectibles sector. Nifty Gateway is among the latest to wind down, having officially ceased all operations as of April 23, 2026.

The complete shutdown follows a withdrawal-only mode enabled by Nifty Gateway since February 2026. This decision coincided with parent company Gemini shifting its focus toward developing a financial super-app. Despite halting services, Nifty Gateway stated it will permanently retain NFT metadata and images on its servers, while offering bulk withdrawal tools for collectors.

However, Nifty Gateway’s move was followed by restructuring across other exchanges.

Binance Shifts Ecosystem to Digital Wallet

Crypto exchange Binance took a similar step in July 2026 by shutting down its centralized NFT marketplace. User activity was redirected to Binance Wallet. At the same time, non-transferable certificates from Binance Academy were converted into PDF documents.

Before the final marketplace closure took effect, Binance distributed a 1 USDC incentive to up to 100,000 users. These funds were awarded to asset holders who transferred their non-CR7 NFT collections off the centralized trading platform.

Magic Eden Focuses Operations on Solana

A shift in operational strategy also occurred in the decentralized marketplace space. Magic Eden, led by CEO Jack Lu, halted trading support for Bitcoin-based and EVM-chain NFTs. Management decided to focus all of its operations exclusively on the Solana network.

Magic Eden’s decision to drop multi-chain integrations narrows options for traders accustomed to cross-blockchain transactions on a single platform.

Debate Over the Future on Social Media

The shrinking secondary market infrastructure has sparked widespread discussion on social media platform X. Collectors are debating whether the wave of closures marks the end of the digital collectibles craze or a transition toward purely community-driven projects.

For asset holders, the retreat of major exchanges shifts the value of collectibles back to their core community supporters.
