Rising Odds of Fed Rate Cut Spark Fresh Optimism in Bitcoin Market

Monetary Easing Signals Shift Market Sentiment

A surge in the probability of a Federal Reserve interest rate cut at its December meeting has triggered a rapid shift in crypto market psychology. Across various discussion platforms, market participants have begun viewing this momentum as a counterbalance following intense selling pressure that weighed on Bitcoin’s price over the past week.

This perception comes amid growing conviction that the transition from monetary tightening to easing could create a more favorable environment for risk assets, including crypto.

Rate Cut Probability Surges Sharply

Data from the CME FedWatch Tool shows the odds of an interest rate cut surging significantly to 69.40%, up from 39.10% just a day earlier. This shift reflects an aggressive adjustment in market expectations regarding the Fed’s monetary policy trajectory.

The move coincided with dovish remarks from New York Fed President John Williams, who stated that policy easing could occur in the near term without jeopardizing medium-term inflation targets.

Bitcoin at a Technical and Psychological Crossroads

Amid these dynamics, Bitcoin traded around US$85,071 with a weekly correction of 10.11%. Several analysts have begun speculating that current pressure may form a temporary stabilization point before a new trend direction takes shape.

This narrative reinforces the view that lower interest rates could trigger a new accumulation phase, particularly for investors viewing crypto as a hedge against loose monetary policy.

Analyst Optimism Meets Fundamental Warnings

Some analysts believe the current setup strongly supports a continued rally over the medium to long term. They view the transition from a tightening cycle to easing as a structural catalyst that has historically benefited speculative assets.

On the other hand, renowned economist Mohamed El-Erian cautioned the market against overreacting to a single policy statement. He emphasized that inflation trends and macro stability must remain the primary benchmarks when interpreting Fed decisions.

Monetary Cycle Dynamics and Risk Asset Appeal

Historically, rate cuts tend to diminish the appeal of conservative instruments such as bonds and fixed deposits, thereby driving capital toward higher-yielding assets. In this context, Bitcoin is frequently positioned as a speculative alternative benefiting from a cheaper cost of capital.

This shifting incentive structure strengthens the case that crypto could enter a new expansionary phase if easing genuinely materializes.

Criticism of Previous Market Pricing

Coinbase Institutional argued that the market had previously misjudged the likelihood of rate cuts. They described earlier low probabilities as “mispriced,” noting that recent data points to an easing of inflationary pressures that is more complex than initially expected.

Citing internal research, the firm highlighted that higher import tariffs could act as a negative demand shock, curbing inflation while dampening employment in the short term.

Crypto Sentiment Still Clouded by Fear

Beneath the growing macroeconomic optimism, market psychology indicators still reflect extreme caution. The Crypto Fear & Greed Index registered a score of 14, falling firmly into the “Extreme Fear” category and signaling that most market participants remain in defensive mode.

This highlights a noticeable disconnect between improving macro narratives and the psychological reality of retail and institutional investors.

Strategic Landscape Ahead

The combination of potential monetary policy shifts, Bitcoin price volatility, and global risk perceptions places the crypto market at a pivotal transition phase. If rate cuts materialize, the impact is expected to extend beyond short-term prices to reshape capital allocation structures and long-term investment strategies across digital assets.

This situation underscores that Bitcoin is no longer driven solely by internal ecosystem sentiment, but is increasingly intertwined with global monetary dynamics and central bank decision-making.
