The official Grand Theft Auto 6 (GTA 6) launch trailer released by Rockstar Games on Thursday featured a fictional meme coin called Dacity Coin. On the Solana blockchain, speculators quickly responded to the game footage with real money: a similarly named copycat token surged 2,900% from a $104,000 market cap to $3.18 million within just one hour of the trailer’s release.
In the official trailer, the words DacityCoin AudaCity are visible on the fuselage of an airplane as a man lights a pink flare on the wing. That brief text on the plane was enough for token traders to pour capital into a copycat asset on decentralized markets.
Started from Cyberleek Leaks on Pump.fun
The copycat token on Solana was not actually created when the official trailer aired. Someone had already launched it five days earlier on the Pump.fun platform after a hacker named Cyberleek leaked GTA 6 gameplay footage that revealed the existence of Dacity Coin in the game.
When it first launched on Pump.fun on October 11, Dacity Coin reached a peak market cap of $1.14 million. Buying interest then dropped sharply, sending its valuation down to $144,700, where it traded sideways for several days before Thursday’s official trailer release triggered a wave of heavy buying.
The new peak at $3.18 million was short-lived. After hitting that record, the copycat token’s market cap corrected by around 53% to hover around $1.5 million.
Rockstar’s Satire on Extreme Speculation
Earlier GTA 6 gameplay leaks showed lead character Lucia skydiving with a parachute bearing the word AudaCity and the slogan Quit your job. Sell your house. Move. That slogan telling players to quit their jobs and sell their houses formed the core of Rockstar’s joke.
According to the GTA wiki, the skydiving stunt is a promotional act for the AudaCity brand to draw investment into Dacity Coin. The scene was designed by Rockstar as a satire on the extreme antics of real-world meme coin creators who often relentlessly promote speculative projects.
To date, Rockstar Games has not issued any official comment regarding the Dacity Coin token or the presence of crypto assets in their game.
A Repeating Pattern from Fortnite’s In-Game Joke
Speculators creating coins based on video game jokes is not a first for the Solana ecosystem. In February 2025, the appearance of the joke currency Dill Bits in Fortnite also sparked the creation of a Solana copycat token that briefly reached a valuation of $4.78 million before plummeting 96%.
For buyers entering at the peak, sharp declines like the Fortnite case present a real and unavoidable risk. This GTA 6 copycat token proves that a fictional joke mocking speculative mania was met by the market with that very same speculation, complete with the risk of losses for latecomers.
