Ripple has officially linked its Ripple USD (RLUSD) stablecoin directly to commercial banking platforms in the United States. Under a partnership agreement signed on October 15, 2026, Cross River Bank is integrating RLUSD into its Core Operating System (COS), with transactions settling on the XRP Ledger (XRPL) network.
The integration streamlines the process for fintech companies looking to move between US dollars and RLUSD. Businesses can now leverage established conventional banking infrastructure without having to build proprietary blockchain rails from scratch.
What makes this milestone significant is not merely the onboarding of a new digital asset at a bank, but the bridging of legacy clearing systems with distributed ledger technology.
A Single Gateway for Crypto and Conventional Clearing
Cross River’s Core Operating System combines RLUSD stablecoin transfers with conventional payment rails such as ACH, wire transfers, and real-time payments (RTP). Banking partners can now access all of these payment methods through a single Application Programming Interface (API) gateway.
Operationally, RLUSD transactions leverage the speed of the XRP Ledger. The network operates 24/7 with average settlement times of 3 to 5 seconds and transaction costs of a fraction of a cent.
The partnership with Cross River broadens Ripple’s reach over the past week. A day earlier, on October 14, 2026, Ripple also struck a partnership with DriveWealth to integrate RLUSD payments and settlement into a brokerage network serving over 100 global partners.
Supply Dominance on the XRP Ledger
RLUSD’s market capitalization has now crossed $2.5 billion, with over $1 billion issued directly on the XRP Ledger. DefiLlama data indicates that RLUSD supply on the network stands at roughly $1.10 billion, representing over 92% of the total tracked stablecoin supply on the chain.
This substantial supply aligns with XRPL’s track record. Throughout its operating history, cumulative transaction settlement volume on the XRP Ledger network has reportedly surpassed $1.3 trillion.
Who Can Access the Service
From a regulatory perspective, RLUSD is issued by Ripple’s subsidiary, Standard Custody & Trust Company. Issuance operates under strict supervision via a limited-purpose trust charter from the New York State Department of Financial Services (NYDFS).
The reserves backing the asset are also regularly disclosed to the public. A monthly independent attestation report as of September 24, 2026, recorded approximately 2.409 billion RLUSD tokens in circulation, backed by total reserve assets valued at $2.5315 billion.
Although the technical integration connects directly to the core banking system, service availability remains phased. Cross River Bank noted that initial access to the RLUSD integration is currently restricted to businesses in select US states.
For market participants, this rollout demonstrates that stablecoins are gaining deeper ground in mainstream payment rails, even as full-scale adoption still awaits expanded regulatory licensing across local jurisdictions.
