Bank Terbesar Rusia Siap Terima Bitcoin dan USDT Jadi Jaminan Pinjaman - Taktik Baru Hindari Sanksi

Russia’s Largest Bank Set to Accept Bitcoin and USDT as Loan Collateral - New Move to Bypass Sanctions

Sberbank is preparing to accept Bitcoin (BTC), Ethereum (ETH), and Tether (USDT) as collateral for customer loan facilities. The decision by Russia’s largest banking institution opens a new pathway for digital asset holders to access liquidity without having to sell their crypto holdings.

The state-owned Russian bank’s initiative marks a concrete step toward integrating top crypto assets into traditional lending products. Under conventional loan frameworks, banks typically require physical collateral such as real estate, vehicles, or tangible securities. Sberbank’s move places the value of Bitcoin, Ethereum, and USDT on equal footing with conventional collateral in the eyes of the state banking institution.

In Line with National Strategy

Sberbank’s move is closely tied to the central government’s policy direction. Using crypto as loan collateral aligns with Russia’s national policy to expand digital asset adoption across various economic sectors. The country is increasingly aggressive in seeking alternative payment instruments amid mounting pressure on its domestic financial system.

The peak of this expansion plan is evident in efforts to legalize crypto for cross-border trade transactions. Since access to global banking systems narrowed following waves of international sanctions, the Russian government has been forced to establish new cross-border settlement routes. Legalizing crypto for export and import activities provides room to sustain international trade without relying on global payment infrastructure.

The entry of Bitcoin and USDT into traditional lending reflects a new adoption pattern in the country. International sanctions designed to isolate Russia have instead accelerated the institutional acceptance of digital assets. Crypto is gradually transforming from a speculative commodity into a financial instrument for a restricted economy.

Sberbank’s decision to recognize the value of digital assets adds significant weight to the crypto industry in Russia. The fact that an institution of this scale is willing to take on the risk and accept virtual coins as loan security proves one thing: under pressure that restricts capital flows, crypto is penetrating the heart of the mainstream financial system.
