Petinggi ECB Serukan Uang Bank Sentral Masuk Blockchain - Bertepatan dengan Gebrakan Stablecoin Euro ke 2 Juta Nasabah

Top ECB Official Urges Central Bank Money on Blockchain as Euro Stablecoin Rolls Out to 2 Million Users

Fresh support for blockchain infrastructure has emerged from European monetary authorities. An Executive Board member of the European Central Bank (ECB) has publicly proposed that central bank money be moved to blockchain networks. The plan to transition conventional base money is coupled with automated execution powered by smart contract technology.

The open statement from the ECB Executive Board member represents explicit backing from the leadership of Europe’s most influential monetary institution. This firm stance highlights the growing acceptance among authorities of decentralized finance (DeFi) potential and the reliability of the blockchain ecosystem to support the financial system.

Overhauling Institutional Transaction Systems

Moving central bank money to blockchain networks carries broad structural implications. The ECB initiative holds significant potential to reshape settlement methods for large-scale institutional transactions across the European region.

Smart contract technology plays a central role in streamlining transaction flows. Leveraging automated execution for central bank money on-chain offers a new path to efficiency for European financial institutions that have long depended on lengthy manual processes.

Euro Tokenization Trend on Ethereum

The positive signals from the ECB coincide with an accelerating trend of financial tokenization across Europe. In a broader context, fintech firm Revolut recently announced the launch of an asset named EURR. The new product from Revolut is a euro stablecoin operating on top of the Ethereum network.

The issuance and management of EURR is not handled by Revolut alone. The euro-denominated token is issued through Bridge Building S.A., a Luxembourg-based entity owned by payment service provider Stripe.

The initial distribution of EURR directly targets a large retail user base. The token, developed in collaboration between Revolut and the Stripe subsidiary, has rolled out to approximately two million active customers residing in Denmark, Poland, and Portugal.

The ECB Executive Board’s vision of smart contract-based central bank money aligns with the expanding availability of euro stablecoins to millions of retail users. Institutional leaders and industry players in Europe now view blockchain as the next pillar of financial infrastructure. Reported via @WatcherGuru on X.
