Whale Setor Margin $5,67 Juta demi Amankan 93.184 ETH - Kerugian Mengambang Capai $18,62 Juta

Whale Deposits $5.67 Million in Margin to Defend 93,184 ETH - Floating Losses Hit $18.62 Million

A whale on a leverage platform deposited an additional $5.67 million in USDC collateral to avoid liquidation on a 93,184 ETH long position. The capital injection was made after a market slump pushed the position dangerously close to the exchange’s liquidation threshold. On-chain analytics account @lookonchain on X reported that the contract holdings had a notional value of roughly $214 million as the market came under pressure.

Maintaining a position of that scale has come at a steep cost. The whale’s account is currently shouldering $18.62 million in unrealized losses amid the ongoing price correction. On top of paper losses, the position holder has paid cumulative funding fees totaling $2.68 million to keep the leveraged position open on the platform.

While the $5.67 million deposit widened the safety cushion, the account remains uncomfortably close to forced liquidation.

Liquidation Price Shifts to $2,177

The additional $5.67 million in USDC margin moved the account’s liquidation threshold further below current market levels. Prior to the deposit, the whale’s position was split across two liquidation levels at $2,256.45 and $2,226.53. After the fresh collateral was credited to the account, the liquidation points dropped to $2,181.69 and $2,177.79.

This shift in the liquidation threshold provides a buffer of several dozen dollars below previous levels. Even so, selling pressure across the crypto market has not fully subsided. Ethereum’s price weakness occurred alongside Bitcoin’s slide below the $80,000 mark, which triggered up to $200 million in long liquidations in just one hour.

External factors also weighed on crypto market conditions. Alongside cascading liquidations in Bitcoin trading, market pressure was fueled by a strengthening Japanese yen and geopolitical concerns in the Middle East.

Five Liquidations in One Hour

Amid the same market conditions, other leveraged market participants faced a very different fate. Well-known trader Machi Big Brother (@machibigbrother) was unable to maintain his positions during the downturn.

Lookonchain reported that Machi Big Brother’s account was forcibly liquidated 5 times in just one hour. The cascade of position closures by the exchange drained the account balance down to around $5,000.

The contrasting outcomes between the 93,184 ETH whale and Machi Big Brother offer a clear picture of the risks involved in leveraged trading. On derivatives exchanges, millions of dollars in capital can buy time by pushing liquidation thresholds lower, but positions without fresh capital injections can be completely wiped out in a matter of minutes.
