Abu Dhabi Sahkan Tether Gold Sebagai Komoditas Spot - Simpanannya Kini Tembus $2,86 Miliar

Abu Dhabi Recognizes Tether Gold as Spot Commodity - Holdings Now Top $2.86 Billion

Tether Gold (XAUT) has been officially recognized as an Accepted Spot Commodity by the financial authority of the Abu Dhabi Global Market (ADGM). This decision paves the way for licensed firms within ADGM to begin offering XAUT-related services to their clients, provided they secure the necessary additional regulatory approvals.

This new move further strengthens Tether’s foothold in the Middle East. Previously, the ADGM jurisdiction had also recognized the company’s USDT as an Accepted Fiat Referenced Token. This dual approval expands Tether’s licensed product portfolio in one of the region’s largest financial hubs.

Tether CEO Paolo Ardoino stated that this new status provides certainty for institutional players. Licensed companies now have a clearer legal pathway to integrate XAUT without being hindered by local regulatory uncertainty.

Tripled in a Year

The regulatory recognition comes as tokenized assets gain strong market demand. On-chain data from DefiLlama shows that Tether Gold’s total value locked (TVL) has surged more than threefold over the past year. The value of stored assets climbed from around $826 million to $2.86 billion.

This surge aligns with XAUT’s utility expanding beyond pure trading and custody. The digital gold is making its way into the crypto credit market. In June 2026, Bitcoin lending platform Ledn announced plans to accept XAUT as loan collateral, allowing clients to secure loans without selling their tokenized gold assets.

13% Share in the Real-World Asset Market

Tokenized commodities are carving out a significant position in the wave of institutional adoption. Data tracker RWA.xyz notes that the tokenized commodities category currently holds a distributed value of around $4.46 billion. This figure accounts for nearly 13% of the total tokenized real-world asset market, which stands at $34.73 billion globally.

This approval in Abu Dhabi underscores one key point regarding adoption: blockchain-based tokenized commodities are beginning to operate within compliance frameworks just as comfortably as traditional financial assets. Reported by Cointelegraph.
