Coinbase CEO Brian Armstrong shared a screenshot of a new interface called Pulse Mode via his X account on September 12, 2026. The rollout is tailored specifically for the Coinbase Wallet ecosystem, bringing perpetual futures contract trading directly to users’ mobile devices.
Pulse Mode is designed as a simplified interface for users interacting with perpetual contracts. Through this new screen, traders can execute both long and short leveraged positions, completing the entire process seamlessly without leaving the wallet application.
Hyperliquid Infrastructure Support and Asset Class Expansion
The description on the app’s Google Play store listing reveals the primary engine behind the feature. The perpetual markets embedded in Coinbase’s mobile wallet are directly powered by Hyperliquid’s network infrastructure.
The integration with Hyperliquid’s engine grants users access to multiple asset classes. Traders are not limited to taking long or short positions in crypto markets, but also gain access to traditional instruments such as tokenized equities, physical commodities, and other market categories.
The futures trading feature arrives amid a product rebranding transition. The mobile wallet app previously operated under the name Base App before the company decided to rebrand back to its original identity, Coinbase Wallet.
Faster Interaction Amid Absence of Technical Details
Based on the shared preview, Pulse Mode appears to streamline existing perpetual trading functions. The new trading screen focuses on speeding up interactions, highlighting three core execution steps: selecting market direction, setting position size, and tapping the order execution button.
Despite showcasing visual previews, Coinbase has not yet released comprehensive technical documentation. The company has not published separate materials detailing potential changes to available order types or risk management controls within the Pulse Mode interface.
The lack of technical details leaves open questions regarding system integration with the underlying network provider. The exchange has yet to confirm whether the new Pulse Mode interface alters the standard order mechanisms executed by the Hyperliquid protocol.
