The global NFT market recorded $47,138,650 in sales volume over the seven-day period ending October 17, 2026. Data from market tracker CryptoSlam shows sales climbed 24.57% compared to the previous week. Behind the rising transaction value, market dynamics shifted: the number of seller wallets jumped 192.38% to 89,117 addresses, even as the overall transaction count dropped to 507,562.
The decline in transaction count alongside rising sales value indicates that the market was driven by large-scale transactions across a handful of assets rather than a surge in retail trading. What captured market attention this week was not just the continued dominance of established players, but that the largest single transaction took place on the Bitcoin network.
Single Bitcoin Inscription Sells for Nearly $3 Million
The largest individual transaction this week originated not from Ethereum, but from the Bitcoin network. A BRC-20 inscription named $8888 with the prefix 85760015743bc7e changed hands for $2,968,838.11, or 36.3755 BTC, in a single transaction. This sale alone accounted for more than 6% of the global NFT market’s weekly volume.
High-value capital movement on Bitcoin was not limited to one asset. Two BRC-20 inscriptions under the ticker $X@AI also logged substantial sales. The first transaction was valued at $638,447.76, or 7.6924 BTC, followed by a second transaction worth $514,872.50, or 6.3536 BTC. This series of transactions worth dozens of Bitcoin propelled the network to third place among blockchains by NFT sales volume.
Ethereum Leads, BNB Chain Surges 116%
In the blockchain rankings, Ethereum maintained the top position with $19,590,513 in sales, up 18.48% from the previous week. This represented a 41.6% share of the global market, even as CryptoSlam detected $1.61 million in wash-trading activity on the network. Polygon followed in second place with $8,377,559 (down 1.99%), with Bitcoin taking third, while BNB Chain surged 116.91% into fourth place with $4,100,527.
By project rankings, the Courtyard collection on Polygon topped weekly volume with $7,682,847 across 133,157 transactions. Argonauts on Ethereum secured second place with $2,750,332, followed by Pudgy Penguins, which jumped 77.03% to $2,564,945.
What Does the 192% Surge in Seller Addresses Mean?
The nearly threefold increase in seller addresses amid a declining transaction count highlights a clear liquidity motive. Many wallet owners leveraged price momentum to exit asset positions, while fresh capital chose to concentrate in high-value assets such as Bitcoin inscriptions and established collections.
For market participants, the signal behind weekly NFT volume climbing to $47 million warrants caution. A value recovery anchored to a handful of multimillion-dollar transactions on Bitcoin reflects highly selective liquidity rather than a broad-based revival in retail interest.
