The tokenized stock market reached a market capitalization of $3.8 billion, according to a research report by DWF Labs titled The Bright Side: Tokenized Equities. This market growth was propelled by a surge in decentralized exchange (DEX) spot trading volume, which jumped 55-fold throughout 2026, from $45.8 million in the week of January 5 to $2.54 billion in the week of October 5.
The peak weekly volume occurred during the week of August 31, 2026, when transactions crossed $7.26 billion, with Robinhood Chain accounting for a dominant share of $5.36 billion, or 74%.
Transaction activity has also intensified: the ratio of weekly transfer turnover to market cap rose from 0.64x at the start of the year to 4.6x by early October 2026. Over the same period, DEX spot trading accounted for 14.5% of total on-chain transfers, up from 10.9% in January.
This phenomenon highlights a stark contrast: the asset class with the smallest supply has become the most actively traded instrument.
Why Minimal Supply Dominates 93% of RWA Trading
Separate research from Dune Analytics revealed that tokenized equities accounted for 93% of all real-world asset (RWA) spot trading volume in August 2026. This volume dominance occurred even though digital stocks have the smallest supply among four major asset classes valued at a combined $33.9 billion.
Behind the brisk market turnover, the issuer landscape remains concentrated among a handful of players. The top three issuers control 75% of the tokenized stock market, followed by Securitize with $290 million in assets under management, or 8%.
Liquidity Migration from Ethereum and Solana
The blockchain landscape reflects a major shift in asset distribution. BNB Chain now holds 32% of tokenized equity capitalization, up from 9% at the beginning of the year, overtaking Ethereum’s dominance, which plunged from 50% to 22%, while Avalanche secured 9%.
DEX trading volume share has also redistributed across various networks. Solana, which controlled 99.8% of DEX spot volume in January, now accounts for just 31%, followed by Robinhood Chain at 26%, BNB Chain at 25%, and Base at 18%.
Around 8% of tokenized stock capitalization is now actively deployed across the DeFi ecosystem. Lending markets Kamino, Jupiter Lend, and Frankencoin host $51.3 million, while liquidity pools on Uniswap V4, Raydium, and Aerodrome hold $77.9 million.
Higher Volatility Than Traditional Exchanges
The rapid turnover of capital on decentralized exchanges brings its own risk profile. The IMF’s Global Financial Stability Report found that tokenized stock volatility is 1.5 times higher than that of conventional equities in traditional markets, with DEXs recording the highest fluctuations.
For crypto market participants, trading digital stocks on DEXs offers frictionless round-the-clock entry and exit without conventional market hours. However, with fluctuations exceeding their underlying markets and an issuer structure concentrated among just three names, liquidity risk remains a crucial factor to weigh.
