Circle Masuk ke 40 Negara Berkembang Demi Kejar Tether - Sekaligus Siapkan Dolar untuk Agen AI

Circle Expands to 40 Emerging Markets to Chase Tether - Prepping Dollars for AI Agents

USDC stablecoin issuer Circle is preparing to enter roughly 40 emerging markets and developing economies. The global expansion plan was revealed directly by Circle CEO Jeremy Allaire on the sidelines of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and World Bank meetings in Bangkok.

Allaire stated that blockchain technology is currently shifting from the early adopter phase to mainstream scaling. This transition demands stable digital dollar infrastructure to serve real-world transaction needs worldwide beyond market speculation.

Closing the Gap on Tether’s 60% Market Share

The expansion targets Southeast Asia, Latin America, Africa, and the Middle East. All four regions have seen a surge in organic demand from individuals and businesses needing direct access to the internet-based digital economy.

In the global stablecoin market, USDC’s market share currently stands at around 25%, with a circulating market cap of $73.3 billion in the second quarter, up 19% from the same period last year. The top spot is still dominated by Tether’s USDT, which leads the race with a share of roughly 60%.

Half a Billion Dollars in Capital and a US Banking Charter

The plan to reach dozens of new countries is backed by substantial capital from recent corporate moves. Circle completed its $400 million acquisition of payment platform Tazapay, alongside securing a $100 million strategic investment from Binance.

On the US regulatory front, Circle secured a federal banking charter in July and applied for a New York trust charter. Circle is also gearing up for the GENIUS Act to take effect in January, legislation that Allaire views as a historic milestone for the official recognition of legal digital dollars at the federal level.

When AI Agents Start Paying for Themselves

Beyond targeting human-to-human economic transactions, Circle is expanding adoption of its Arc network. This specialized network is designed to facilitate autonomous machine-to-machine micropayments run directly by artificial intelligence (AI) agents.

The infrastructure is now being adopted by global financial institutions such as BlackRock, Visa, and Standard Chartered to support automated inter-system payment flows.

For businesses and developers in emerging markets, Circle’s move marks a new chapter for stablecoin utility: no longer just a hedge against local currency volatility, but a payment rail for intelligent agents operating around the clock.
