After two years of scaling back operations, Binance US is preparing to raise fresh capital. An Oct. 15, 2026 Bloomberg report revealed that the digital asset exchange is seeking to raise up to $100 million in private funding at a valuation of around $1 billion.
The new funds are intended to finance expansion in the United States. In the domestic market, the exchange must go head-to-head with entrenched competitors such as Coinbase, Kraken, Robinhood, and Gemini. Binance US CEO Stephen Gregory has set a target of capturing a 20% US market share, having previously referred to the preceding two-year period as a platform hibernation.
In the spot market, preparations for expansion began even earlier. Since April 2025/2026, Binance US has instituted a zero maker fee policy and reduced taker fees to 0.02% or lower across more than 250 spot trading pairs. However, transaction fee cuts alone have not been enough to close the volume gap.
Now, the trajectory of their business turnaround is shifting toward new trading instruments.
Breaking Into Prediction Markets and CFTC Contracts
Binance US’s expansion plans encompass several operational initiatives. The company aims to restore money transmitter licenses in multiple US states to broaden access to local money transfer services. In addition, the exchange plans to tap liquidity from external providers, including backing from global exchange Binance.
New opportunities are emerging from a planned push into the prediction markets arena. Binance US has drawn up plans to apply for a designated contract market license with the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC). This regulatory license is designed to facilitate event-based trading instruments, derivative products, and perpetual futures contracts under federal regulatory oversight.
Why Did the Trump Family Project Opt Out?
News of the $100 million funding round also brought up World Liberty Financial, a crypto project affiliated with Donald Trump’s family. World Liberty Financial was reportedly aware of Binance US’s fundraising plans, but decided not to participate.
The relationship between the two parties at the global level paints a contrasting picture, however. Data from Arkham Intelligence shows that global exchange Binance holds roughly $4.7 billion in USD1 stablecoins belonging to World Liberty Financial. That holding represents nearly 87% of the total $5.4 billion circulating supply of USD1 in the market.
For US market participants, Binance US’s move marks a new chapter in the battle among regulated exchanges. Targeting a 20% market share against Coinbase’s dominance is no easy task, particularly as derivatives and prediction markets demand strict federal licensing compliance. The success of this $100 million capital injection will hinge on how quickly they can secure state licenses and clearance from the CFTC.
