Holders of tokenized United States government debt on the Avalanche blockchain can now continue earning accrued interest while their assets are locked as collateral. Settlement network Lynq has integrated its system with risk management platform ZeroBeta, connecting institutional lending and margin trading with onchain US Treasuries.
Prior to this integration, financial institutions faced a rigid trade-off. Bondholders had to choose between letting their assets sit idle to pocket coupon payments, or sacrificing yield so the assets could be pledged as collateral for loans or margin trading.
Accrued Interest Mechanism Inside Escrow
That hurdle was addressed through a collateral lock feature. Under this setup, onchain US Treasuries deposited into an escrow account continue generating accrued interest yield for their owners throughout the duration of the loan or trading collateral period.
Lynq Chief Executive Officer Jerald David emphasized that this breakthrough resolves a longstanding dilemma for financial institutions. Asset owners are no longer forced to weigh the trade-off between earning interest and pledging capital. Bond yield distributions are processed directly and instantly thanks to Lynq’s Yield-in-Transit technology running on the Avalanche network.
Automated Risk Calculation on BlueShift
Oversight of collateral positions is handled by ZeroBeta’s BlueShift platform. The BlueShift system calculates margin requirements on trading positions and monitors risk exposure in real time. Based on defined risk thresholds, BlueShift issues instructions to lock or release collateral.
Lynq holds the assets on the Avalanche blockchain and executes onchain collateral transfers following risk calculation directives from BlueShift. This cross-system coordination ensures collateral moves onchain precisely when margin trading parameters require it.
Brokerage Licensing Behind Asset Execution
Behind the transaction settlement infrastructure, Lynq is operated by tZERO Securities. The entity is a licensed broker-dealer registered with the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and holds official memberships with FINRA and SIPC.
The Lynq platform was jointly developed by Arca Labs, Tassat Group, and tZERO Group. Total assets recorded on the Lynq platform now exceed $89 million, supported by the participation of more than 40 onboarded digital asset institutions.
For institutional treasurers and investment managers, this feature cuts the cost of capital when managing liquidity in the crypto ecosystem. Government debt on Avalanche can now serve two functions simultaneously: maintaining safety margins for trading, while coupon interest continues flowing into the owner’s coffers.
