Agen AI Tembus 138 Juta Transaksi di Base - 87% di Bawah 10 Sen tapi Disokong Visa dan Stripe

AI Agents Surpass 138 Million Transactions on Base - 87% Under 10 Cents but Backed by Visa and Stripe

Over 138 million transactions on Coinbase’s Base network are now executed entirely by artificial intelligence (AI) agents. A Chainalysis report titled ‘Inside North America’s $3 trillion crypto economy: Agentic commerce accelerates’ noted that this autonomous activity is facilitated by the Coinbase-incubated x402 protocol, enabling software to purchase data, compute, and AI model access using crypto without human intervention. Yet what sets this transaction flow apart is not merely its volume, but values too small for traditional banking clearing systems.

Fractional-Cent Transactions Rejected by Credit Cards

The vast majority of x402 payments involve micro-denominations. Chainalysis data indicates over 87% of transactions are valued between one-hundredth of a cent ($0.0001) and 10 cents ($0.10) - transfers impossible for conventional credit card networks to process due to minimum fee thresholds. In July 2026, the x402 protocol processed roughly 75 million transactions totaling $24 million over a 30-day period.

Corporate backing has begun entering this new infrastructure. Visa, Mastercard, and Stripe have officially supported x402, while Coinbase opened payment systems from AI agents to business clients. Cloudflare Chief Strategy Officer Stephanie Cohen emphasized that stablecoins possess ideal characteristics for facilitating automated microtransactions without banking friction.

Why China’s Model Spending Lags Behind the US

The geographic origin of crypto wallets reveals a stark contrast in regional focus. US-based wallets accounted for 88.1% of all AI model inference payments, while Chinese wallets contributed just 0.1%. Chainalysis Head of Research Eric Jardine explained that this disparity stems from developers in China leveraging local open-weight models like DeepSeek and Qwen, eliminating the need to purchase commercial inference services.

The situation reverses in security testing: Chinese wallets control roughly 90% of payments for code and smart contract audits, with the largest share directed to the AgentLisa platform. Asian developers are concentrating their automated budgets on scanning code vulnerabilities rather than leasing commercial language models.

Wait Times Shrink to 18 Minutes

The execution speed of AI agents has also surged dramatically in a matter of months. In late 2025, the average time between a wallet receiving funds and executing its first x402 transaction reached 73 days. Heading into the third quarter of 2026, that lag plummeted to just 18 minutes. Refill patterns reinforce this dependence: 89.3% of wallets funded in Q2 2026 received additional funding within 30 days, up from 70.6% in Q3 2025.

Animoca Brands co-founder and chairman Yat Siu projects that up to 100 billion AI agents will transact across the internet in the coming years, with crypto and stablecoins serving as their primary rails. Should that projection materialize, blockchain capital flow will no longer be driven by human transactions, but by millions of bots paying each other for compute behind the scenes.
