Bank Sentral Brasil Gandeng Hypernative Lacak Kripto Real-Time - Buntut Pembobolan Software $180 Juta

Central Bank of Brazil Partners With Hypernative for Real-Time Crypto Tracking Following $180M Software Breach

The Central Bank of Brazil is developing a real-time crypto monitoring and alert-sharing system with blockchain security firm Hypernative. The new surveillance system is designed to connect banks with domestic crypto exchanges to distribute cross-institutional threat alerts.

Regina Pedroso, executive director of the Brazilian Tokenization Association (ABToken), stated that the integration process is scheduled to begin within the next two weeks. Crypto exchanges Foxbit and Mercado Bitcoin are among the firms participating in the initial implementation phase. The system has already undergone testing marked by the issuance of several alert bulletins, with third-party system adaptation being the next focus for completion.

Aftermath of the $180M C&M Software Breach

The development of the security monitoring system comes in response to a cyberattack on financial software provider C&M Software in 2025. The hack drained funds from reserve accounts of various Brazilian financial institutions, causing estimated losses of $140 million to $180 million. A portion of the illicit proceeds was laundered through Brazilian crypto exchanges and over-the-counter platforms via Bitcoin, Ether, and USDT transactions.

On-chain investigator ZachXBT helped authorities trace $30 million to $40 million in funds linked to the attack. Several exchange entities including Binance, Bitso, Bybit, and stablecoin issuer Tether assisted law enforcement in freezing roughly $5 million in remaining assets.

Transfer Delay Rules Starting in 2027

The Brazilian government is not stopping at monitoring tools. Starting January 1, 2027, virtual asset service providers in Brazil will be required to hold transactions valued over $10,000 for a full 24 hours before they are processed.

The transfer holding rule and cyber threat alerts operate across two distinct security layers. While one tool distributes threat intelligence, the other provides a time buffer to review transactions. Hypernative itself handles the on-chain threat detection layer and active response prior to or directly during an ongoing attack.
