Binance Futures launched two new USDT-settled perpetual contracts on September 6, 2026, adding PONS and Hajimi to its derivatives platform. The exchange’s decision triggered sharp market price movements. Data from the Binance Alpha platform showed that Chinese memecoin Hajimi (ๅๅบ็ฑณ) climbed to $0.070, marking a 24-hour gain of over 330%.
Trading for the two contracts opened 30 minutes apart. Binance launched the PONSUSDT contract at 06:45 UTC, followed by HajimiUSDT at 07:15 UTC. In the opening minutes after launch, Hajimi traded around $0.0584 with an initial gain of 248.5%. PONS marked its launch price at $0.891 with a 23.9% gain. PONS trading activity also saw massive volume on other platforms, with 24-hour turnover on Crypto.com surpassing $200 million on September 6.
Conflicting Leverage Limits
Both new derivative instruments are USDโ-margined and operate without expiration dates. Binance set the funding rate capped at a maximum of ยฑ2%, with funding rate settlements scheduled every four hours.
A notable numerical discrepancy appeared in Binance’s official announcement document. The summary text stated that the PONS contract offers maximum leverage of up to 20x. However, the technical specifications table on the same page indicated otherwise, capping the maximum leverage for both PONS and Hajimi at 3x.
Dividing Line Between Futures and Spot Markets
PONS is the native token of a non-custodial launchpad platform operating on the Robinhood Chain ecosystem - an Ethereum layer-2 network. PONS previously emerged from Binance Alpha’s watchlist. Although futures trading is now live, PONS has not been listed on the regular spot market. Binance emphasized that the listing evaluation processes for futures contracts and spot market listings are conducted separately.
Traders entering these derivative contracts face standard risk math. Even at the 3x leverage limit specified in the table, positions require precise risk tolerance. An adverse price drop of 33% would completely wipe out a trader’s initial margin capital. That total loss figure is a baseline calculation that does not yet account for exchange transaction fees.
