Umur Kurang dari Setahun, Bitwise Likuidasi ETF Dogecoin dengan Sisa Aset $688 Ribu

Less Than a Year After Launch, Bitwise Liquidates Dogecoin ETF With Just $688K in Assets

It lasted less than a year on public markets. Launched on November 25, 2025, the Bitwise Dogecoin ETF under the ticker BWOW is set to be liquidated in October 2026. Recent data as of September 9, 2026, highlights the lack of market demand for the product, with BWOW’s total net assets shrinking to just $688,000. This marks a sharp decline from previous reports showing the ETF still held roughly $3 million in assets.

The failure of this niche crypto product aligns with fading interest in its underlying memecoin. Dogecoin (DOGE) remains far below its all-time high, having lost the market momentum that fueled its massive rise during the 2021 bull run. Born out of short-lived market hype at launch, the Dogecoin ETF ultimately failed to retain capital from long-term investors.

Investor Payout Schedule

For remaining BWOW shareholders, the wind-down process will occur in phases. The ETF’s final trading day on NYSE Arca is scheduled for October 14, 2026. On that date, Bitwise will begin liquidation procedures by converting all of its DOGE holdings into cash.

The following day, prior to market open on October 15, the firm will formally halt the creation of new shares. Shareholders who do not sell their positions on the open market before the deadline will receive an automatic cash payout. The distribution will be calculated based on the net asset value per share on October 21, with liquid proceeds expected to reach investor accounts on October 22.

A Pivot to Tokenized Equities

In its official announcement, Bitwise stated that closing the Dogecoin ETF is part of an ongoing effort to optimize its product lineup to meet evolving investor needs. The niche ETF was ultimately sidelined in favor of other investment vehicles prioritized by the firm.

The closure of the BWOW ETF coincides with the rollout of a new product line in a different segment. Bitwise recently launched a self-custodied tokenized equity portfolio product in collaboration with Coinbase. The asset manager is shifting its resources toward utility-driven instruments rather than maintaining a memecoin product that has seen investor interest dry up.
