Samsung Buka Transfer USDC di 82 Juta Ponsel Galaxy AS - Tapi Bukan Samsung yang Pegang Dananya

Samsung Enables USDC Transfers on 82 Million US Galaxy Phones - But Won’t Hold the Funds

Samsung Galaxy users in the United States will soon be able to send the USDC stablecoin directly from their phone’s native app. The transfer feature is scheduled to launch in the final week of October 2026 via Samsung Wallet - the same app used daily for debit and credit payment cards.

The move eliminates the need to install a separate crypto app just to send digital assets. Samsung claims that 82 million Galaxy devices in the US are technically compatible, though the figure reflects the number of eligible devices rather than an active or verified user base.

Two Transfer Routes to 60 Countries

Samsung Wallet splits transfers into two distinct routes. Under the first route, users can send USDC to compatible external wallets with no transfer fees from Samsung, although recipients may still face deductions from their wallet providers.

The second route caters to cross-border remittance needs to bank accounts in over 60 destination countries. Through this option, recipients will receive funds in their respective local currencies. Transfer fees for this banking route vary by destination country, and fee details will appear on the app screen before users tap confirm.

Who Holds the Crypto Keys?

Behind the mobile interface, Samsung stresses that it is not a bank, custodian, or licensed money transmitter. All regulatory infrastructure and fund processing are managed by Bastion as a licensed partner, while Coinbase acts as a sub-custodian through Coinbase Prime Vault.

The claim of 82 million compatible devices also faces strict access requirements. Users must be US residents aged 18 or older, possess a Samsung account, use a Galaxy phone running Android 13 or higher, and complete official identity verification and biometric setup.

Service Limitations at Initial Launch

The rollout is scheduled for the final week of October 2026 and has not yet started as of October 12, 2026. The launch product is strictly limited to transfer services. While Samsung noted the potential future integration of online stablecoin purchases and tap-to-pay methods, both features are confirmed to be absent during the initial phase.

For Galaxy owners expecting a full crypto wallet, this update does not yet open the door to buying or selling digital assets. Instead, users receive a cross-border money transfer tool built directly into their standard payment app, complete with full identity verification on every transaction.
